Amish Proverbs *Giveaway*!

I am so very excited to be able to tell you all about this simply beautiful book! I read Suzanne Woods Fisher's Amish Peace back in September of last year and have been drawn to the simpler life and ways of the Amish people ever since. If you read this blog often, you probably know that it even inspired me to take a trip to Lancaster, PA myself! So, where offered the chance by Litfuse to review Ms. Fisher's next book on the Amish people, I jumped right away.
This book is one of the most beautiful books I've ever seen. Each chapter shares a few pages about the Amish people and their beliefs. Then it goes on to share exquisite pictures and the proverbs of these simple people. Some of my favorites are, "Bibles that are coming apart usually belong to people who are not.", "Swallowing pride rarely gives you indigestion." and "A child can read a parent's character before he can read the alphabet."

About Amish Proverbs: Words of Wisdom from the Simple Life: Simplify your life with Amish wisdom
Through firsthand research and personal relationships, Suzanne Woods Fisher has collected more than 200 proverbs that uncover the rich heritage, folklore, faith, values, history, and essence of the Plain People. These proverbs serve as teaching tools and maxims for practical living--but they're not just for the Amish. They're for anyone who seeks God's wisdom and truth for everyday circumstances.
Ranging from the simple to the profound, from the serious to the humorous, these sayings will stick with you through life's joys and sorrows. With beautiful full-color photos throughout, Amish Proverbs is the perfect gift for any occasion.

About Suzanne Woods Fisher: Suzanne Woods Fisher is the CBA bestselling author of The Choice, The Waiting, Amish Peace, and Amish Proverbs. Her interest in the Anabaptist cultures can be directly traced to her grandfather, W. D. Benedict, who was raised in the Old Order German Baptist Brethren Church in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Benedict eventually became publisher of Christianity Today magazine. Suzanne is the host of a radio show called Amish Wisdom and her work has appeared in many magazines. She lives in California.

SO, let's do it this way. The Amish have their proverbs which are really just sayings they live by. I'm from the South, and we have our own proverbs.....things like "There is more than one way to skin a cat." I'm pretty sure you have some sayings or proverbs of your own.
Leave me a message and share with me your favorite saying from your "people"!
I will select a winner on Monday, August 23rd so leave your comment before midnight on Sunday, August 22. {Thanks to Revell books for providing me a book to review and one to giveaway!}
Have a great Tuesday everyone. It's a busy one around here.....meetings and house cleaning and then Small Group -- so excited!!!
