The Choice

Whew! It has been a long day and I am T.I.R.E.D! But, before I head off to dreamland, I had to take a minute and share a great new work of fiction with you all!. Ya'll remember how much I loved the book, Amish Peace, right? Well, since then -- I have kind of been drawn to the lifestyle of the Amish people. I want that sort of peace and simplicity in my life! So, when I was offered the change to review The Choice by Suzanne Woods Fisher, I jumped at the chance. And I was not disappointed. Suzanne has written a wonderful first novel in The Lancaster County Secrets Series. I loved the central character, Carrie. She has an amazing strength that I wish I could find in myself. And I also loved the character called Mattie. She had the kind of faith that I long to find in myself. Not only was this a fabulous work of fiction, but I found plenty in this book that also helped me look at my faith more deeply. I loved it. I really, really did! Thank you Litfuse for providing me with this book and allowing me the privilege of reviewing it!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:


Suzanne is a wife and mom, raiser of puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind, and an author of Christian books, both non-fiction and fiction.

Her relatives on my mother's side are Old Order German Baptist Brethren, also known as Dunkards. That's where her interest in Anabaptist traditions began. Suzanne's grandfather was born into a family of 13 children, started his career as a teacher in a one-room school house in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and ended it as one of the very first publishers of Christianity Today. "We called him "Deardad" even though he was a very stern fellow. Still, Deardad's life inspired me to write."

After college, Suzanne was a freelance writer for magazines and became a contributing editor to Christian Parenting Today. Her work has been featured in Today's Christian Woman, Marriage Partnership, Worldwide Challenge, among others. She took the plunge into books a few years ago and now she's hooked.
