Last Thursday, right before Spring Break, I went with Allie on a field trip.
to this Aquarium......
We arrived at the 8PM and were ushered into a classroom where the kids were split into two teams and then competed a game of Ocean Jeopardy.
After the game, we went to our own private dive show.
This guy told us all about the different fish that were in this particular aquarium.
Lots of different stingrays and a couple of kinds of small sharks.
This guy was inside the tank feeding the fish.
After the dive show, the kids got to go up to the top of the tank and pet the stingrays.
We then went to eat pizza. At 10PM.
After the pizza, it was time to do this.....
Yep, we dissected a squid....
and my girl jumped right in and wasn't squimish at all.
It was like major surgery.
These girls rocked this dissection.
They were pros!
After that, at about 11PM, it was time for a Scavenger Hunt.
Our group did find everything on the list.
But the kids were getting a bit excited by then.
I think that the delirium of being up so late had hit....
After the scavenger hunt, it was time.
Time to sleep with the sharks.
There are no pictures of that part because we couldn't take pictures anymore so that the fish could "rest".
But, we slept in the tunnel with sharks and all manner of fish swimming around us.
Allie seemed to have slept great but me, not so much.
My 38 year old body isn't made to sleep on the ground any longer.
Plus, it was so cold in there that my flannel pj pants, long sleeve shirt, camping sleeping bag and hoodie {with the hood up} were not enough to keep me warm.
When 7AM arrived, it was mercifully time to get up.
We had a quick continental breakfast and then had an hour to explore the aquarium.
That is after a trip to the gift shop.
Allie bought herself some shark teeth, along with a few other things for herself and her siblings.
Such a sweetie!!!
This is Allie's friend with her gift shop buy....
This was one of my favorite things that we saw in the aquarium.
Seahorses.....
We also got to see the penguins who we couldn't see the night before because they were sleeping.
Sweet girls!
We had a bast on this field trip.
I am so glad that I got to do this with my girl!!
in HIM-
Sounds fun, interesting, cool, and cold. So neat that you could share this experience with your daughter.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I said a prayer for you!
