Favorite Finds {2.10.18}

Do you know what this Wednesday is besides Valentine's Day?

This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and marks the beginning of Lent.
Lent is season preceding Easter during the Liturgical year.
 It is a time of preparing our hearts for the coming of Easter.
People do a lot of different things to prepare for Easter.
Some "give up" something during Lent.
 Maybe a bad habit like foods that aren't good for them, complaining, or caffeine. Maybe they give up a meal by fasting and praying once a day or once a week.

Some people "put on" something during Lent.  Maybe they commit themselves to pray for a certain amount of time each day or at a specific time each day.
Maybe they commit to reading their Bible each day or serving for a certain amount of time each week.

Maybe they do specific Lenten related readings and devotionals each day.

I have been looking for a Lenten Study for myself as well as something to use with our youth small groups during this season.

Here is one study  that I found for families.
 I love that this is intended for families to use on a weekly basis during Lent.  If your family is like mine, it is B U S Y.  With only one lesson a week, hopefully we can keep up.  I also love that it is a way to get my whole family involved in observing Lent together.  I will be printing these devotions out and using them with my family this year.

I found these two studies that I really like for our youth. I will be presenting them to our youth committee tomorrow night and we will choose one to use with our small groups.

There is also an adult version of this study.  If we choose to do this study, I will probably get the adult version for myself to add to their study and to simply do for myself.

Another study that I am considering for our youth is this one that is all about the Passover.  I love teaching about the Passover and the Last Supper.  Our teens probably don't even realize that they are connected.  What a great opportunity to teach them about the connection.

Have more questions about this Lenten season?  Check out this video.

Will you be attending an Ash Wednesday service this week?  It is truly one of the most moving services of the year for me.

What will you be doing in observance of Lent this year? I would love to hear your plans for this Lenten Season!
