Easter Weekend 2014

Or Easter Weekend was a welcome celebration after a long, busy Lent.

On Good Friday, we all spent a lot of the day preparing for Saturday's Easter Event, but my favorite part of the day was our Taize Prayer Vigil.
The sanctuary was absolutely beautiful and the whole thing was very touching.

My favorite part of the service was that our whole family went in together to do it.
I opened my eyes at one point to see this.
I had to take a picture.
They were really looking to Jesus.

Then it was on to run some errands for the rest of the weekend.

On Saturday morning, we had our Easter Celebration and Journey To the Cross.
There were crafts, face painting, and tattoo's
Popcorn, sno-cones and cotton candy
right after our pancake breakfast.

And of course, the bunny was around.....

We ended up having to do everything inside due to the rainy weather,

but I don't think any of the kids cared too much!

This sweet little boy loves Allie.
He is precious.

We also had a Journey To The Cross Family Experience.
It was really great.
Families went to each station together and heard the Easter story as they went.

Saturday afternoon I spent cooking for Sunday, making butterflies to hand out to the children as a symbol of new life on Sunday and dying Easter Eggs with the kids.

Hubs told the why we dye eggs....

On Sunday morning, I woke the kids at 5:45 am, so they could take a quick 'peek' at their Easter baskets before we headed off to church.
It was early....

The sunglasses were a big hit!

We then hurried off and got dressed so we could get over to our Sunrise Service.
As always, God's sunrise was beautiful.

We started the service outside, watching the sunrise and singing together.....

We then processed into our 'old church' where hubs reminded us that we are called to be Easter People.
To Go and Tell that the Tomb is empty.

We had breakfast after our sunrise service and then the kids and I headed home to put on our Easter outfits and went back for Sunday School and our 11AM service.

Hubs sermon was really good.  He asked us to answer this question.
"What will you do with the news that Christ Is Risen?"
and he reminded us what we have been called to do.

Once we got home, we tried for one more picture of everyone.
The sun was in our eyes.....{{sigh}}

Then, Nana and Grandpap came for lunch.
We had a very nice afternoon together.
Eating a delicious lunch and then just visiting together.

Grandpap and Brady flew his kite.

We had a wonderful afternoon together.

"Easter Weekend" is over, but the Easter season is still upon us.
The question that remains for me and for all of us is still:

What will I do with the news of the Resurrected Christ?
