We met them for lunch and then we went to the Gettysburg Museum. We watched the movie which I thought was very well done and is narrated by Morgan Freeman.
We then took a walk through the museum. I didn't take many pictures because I couldn't use my flash and the light wasn't very good.
A quote that I thought spoke to how hard this war was.... And the one that tells of the end.....
After the museum part, there were park rangers helping kids
dress up as a soldier or a lady of the 1860's.
This sweet park ranger told the girls all about what was worn in the 1860's.
And then they all had a turn at dressing up....
My A.....
My M.....
My L .....

We then spent a bloody forever in the gift shop looking for something
for them to 'buy'. We finally convinced them to keep looking. Except for L, who came home with a horse from Gettysburg.
On the way out we took a little time with
Mr. Lincoln....
long as the kids could stand it.
This is Little Round Top....
My A.....
My M.....
My L .....
maybe my hubby will leave a comment and tell y'all about it....
silly girl.....
After supper.....a little more driving around the battlefield
It was then supper time and we found this fine place
to have supper!!!

K got stopped by this girl who was trying to get people to sign up for
ghost tours.....Really? Do you think we are gonna
take these 4 small children on a ghost tour? Really?
I found it really funny because she wasn't gonna let him get away....
she talked and talked and talked.....
A got a puzzle that becomes a horse.
M got this fan.
She is a true southern belle....
After the shopping we headed back to the hotel to get some sleep before starting home the following day.....
The best quotes of the whole vacation came this day....we were back at the hotel after this busy day, getting ready for bed when L looks at me and says "SO,there really was a war here?"
And then later on I asked the girls what they learned about the Civil War from Gettysburg.....
M responded "They smoked."
This is what she learned because in the museum there was a pipe and M apparently has never seen a pipe before. So, we discussed what a pipe was and what it was used for....
The final post will be tomorrow. (I know you are glad!)
in HIM-
I've loved reading about it! :)
