So, today I thought I'd show you the blooper reel...... These are just a few of the hundreds, yes HUNDREDS of pictures I took to finally get one that worked.
The first night, we tried in our pj's.

After about 30 or so pictures that night,
it was bedtime. I decided to give up and try again the next day

And then he crawled away all together.

We put him back and he screamed some more.

How funny! The joys of photographing children! Thanks for stopping by my blog! To answer your question, no I didn't use a flash for the Christmas photos. I prefer using natural light and that is how I do it 99.9% of the time. For the ones you asked about it was dark and rainy outside so I had to turn on a light in the house and then bump my ISO up to 2000. Not the best conditions but it works for snapshots of my kids when I have no other option. I plan to buy a speedlight and umbrellas very soon to practice with a bit of flash photography. Good luck with your new d5000. I'm sure you will love it! I've played with it before (a friend owns one) and it is a great camera! Just do a lot of reading and learn how ISO, aperture, and shutter speed work together to affect exposure!! I hope you'll visit my blog often! Have a fab new year!
