Living In HIS Power

I think that I mentioned before that I was starting a new bible study at church. We are doing Beth Moore's Stepping Up. My friend, Deidre, told me that it was awesome and she was right!

This morning we were studying Psalm 124. And Ms. Beth was talking about how Satan hates us and that he is out to destroy us. But, our Lord, He is on our side and HE saves us often. What a wonderful thought that our Lord has gotten us out of more predicaments that we can count. Beth asked that we spend some time thinking back over our lives and looking at how God had rescued us. I have no doubt looking back on my life that God has saved me more times than I even know about! Some of them I realize, some I'm sure I won't even know til I'm in heaven and Jesus tells me all about it.

Then gave us some examples of things she knew God had saved her from and then she said this.....and it knocked me out of my seat!

"I'm not talking about what my future would have been like apart from salvation. I'm describing what my future would have been without the rip-roaring radical deliverance of Jesus Christ and His complete overthrow of every false Christ in my life."

Then she gave us room for our own how Jesus saved me thoughts.....that is when God used Beth's statement to really convict me.

While what I said above is true, I know that HE has and continues to save me often, I began to wonder how many times I (in my humanness) have gotten in his way? I'm not saying I messed up HIS plan but he gives me a choice how to respond to him and what he is saving me from. How many times have I hung on to those "false Christs" in my life?
How many times have I failed to tap into HIS power and tried to fight Satan alone?
It doesn't work, my friends!

This is my prayer this day.

Dear Lord, help me to be fully aware of you in my life. Help me KNOW you are with me and remember you each and every moment of the day. I long to live my life in your rip-roaring radical deliverance. Help me to let go of the things that get in the way of that.....including myself! I want everyone in my life to see YOU shining through and not me....especially the little people who you gave to me. In Your Holy Name - Amen.

  1. Mindy, this was one of my favorite weeks to study in Stepping Up. For that reason, Psalm 124 is one of my all-time favorites and Pam and I remind each other of it often.

I'm so glad you're enjoying the study. There's so much more, my friend. You're going to love it!
