Vacation - The Whirlwind Weekend

It is time that I document our vacation. So, if you all will bear with me that is what my next few posts will revolve around. The parents want to see some pictures and I need to write it all down so it will be etched into cyberspace for all eternity......or something like that.

So, here goes. We left out of our little town at 2:00 PM and drove to Belmont, NC. Hubs and I attended a wedding rehearsal for the wedding he was to officiate the next day and our girls went home with a friend. During the rehearsal I hung out in the back and played with this little cutie who just happens to be the youngest son of my friend, Lisa, over at One-Hip Mom.By the time we got back to our friends house, it is time to get a good nights sleep.

On Saturday, we met some friends for lunch and had a picnic. It was so much fun to get to visit with the Foster Family....even if it was a quick visit. After our lunch, we drove to the church that hubs and I had served for 7 years. We've moved twice since then in just three years. The best babysitter we ever had got married that afternoon and she had asked hubs to officiate. He obliged. This girl practically raised my children. They absolutely love her and always wanted her to be their sitter. She was a beautiful bride!!! We were so excited to get to be a part of this happy occasion!

So, after the wedding we headed out on the road to Disney World. We drove and drove and drove some more. Finally, somewhere in South Georgia we stopped for supper. Before getting back on the road, we dressed everyone in their pj's. Hubs was hoping that we could drive all the way there and not stop. But, at about midnight B made it quite apparent that driving the whole way wasn't going to happen and that he was way beyond tired of being in his carseat. So, we stopped in Daytona and got a hotel room. We were literally in that room for 7 hours. But, it was worth it to get some good sleep in.

I had hoped that we would be able to get to a place we could attend church but it didn't work out that way so we just drove on in on Sunday morning. We arrived here at about 9:30AM. We were all so excited!

My FIL is a member of Disney's Vacation Club so we were able to stay on the property in a condo at Old Key West. That makes traveling to and from the parks pretty easy. We would just catch a bus to where ever we were heading. So, once we got there and got moved in, hubs and FIL went to the grocery store and A decided to tag along with them. Nana LeeAnne and I took the other three kids to the playground for a while. They had a good time and B especially loved feeling of sand for the first time.

The kids were so excited about getting to "ride" something that once we all got back together we decided to go to Epcot for a while. So, the very first ride we got on was the "Nemo" ride which was more of a show than a ride and then we visited the aquarium part of that feature. The kids all enjoyed that. Here are a few pictures from that night.

First Character Sighting.....Donald Duck in Mexico

One of my favorite memories from that evening was after we had ridden the boat through Mexico, one of the workers asked the girls if they'd like to learn the "Maraca's

Dance". It was such fun watching them. M loved this!!!

After this, we hopped on a bus and traveled over to Fort Wilderness Lodge and got on a boat. We watched the fireworks over Cinderella's Castle from the water. If you ever get a chance, I recommend this. It is the best way to see the fireworks. The boats are wired and so you hear everything you would at Magic Kingdom, but you are on your own private boat. No crowds!

This has gotten long so more tomorrow! Have a fab Monday everyone!
