I was so excited when I found this today. When the weather is cool/cold out I make soup about once a week. I LOVE soups!!!! And on the flip side - when the weather is warm/hot, I love all things grilled. But, back to the soup......
I am actually making this soup for supper tonight.
Hamburger Chowder
1lb. lean ground beef 2 lbs. diced tomatoes
4 carrots, sliced 5 c. water
1 large onion, chopped 3 beef bouillon cubes
2 c. celery, chopped 1/2 c. rice, uncooked
1/2 c. green pepper, chopped 1 bay leaf
1 sm. cabbage, chopped 1 tsp. pepper
Brown ground beef. Add all other ingredients. Simmer for one hour. Serves 8 - 10.
I am hoping that my husband doesn't ask what the purple stuff is (the cabbage)......think I can get away with it? We will see.....
I haven't tried this in the crockpot but I totally think you could put it all in there and let it cook all day if you wanted to.
I can't wait to check out all the rest of the recipes. Go see BooMama for more!!!
Sounds great. Thanks for stopping by today!
ReplyDeleteThat soup sounds yummy! I'm the same way, I can hardly wait for cooler weather each year for the first pot of chili. This year I'm loving Taco Soup! yum!!
ReplyDeleteHa! on the cabbage! I've found that my family doesn't mind cabbage in soup. I hope your family is likeminded! And yes, this fall weather just calls for soup at least weekly.
