Pondering On...........Honesty

Recently I made this statement to someone.

"Being an honest person is more than just answering questions when asked."

What do ya'll think?

Does answering questions when asked make you an honest person? Or is there more to it than that?

I tend to think that there is more to it. I think that what makes someone an honest person is a willingness to be open and upfront. Maybe to even talk about something before you are asked about it.

This is something I'm pondering on....... Am I wrong?

What do ya'll think?

  1. Oh, I agree. I've always told the kids that I will ALWAYS be truthful with them and I expect the same in return. Even if we're worried about the consequences.

  2. Oh that's deep! I'll have to think on it and get back to you.

  3. Oh, absolutely. Now that I think about it, there is a degree of honesty which can eliminate the need for a question. (Not that the need to ask a question always implies a lack of honesty. Well, hopefully you know what I mean, LOL.)

  4. ouch! good question! I agree, I think there is so much more to it. If we are always completely open and honest, there would probably be very few questions left to be asked.

  5. Totally. I think a lie of omission is when you should say something (truthful) but choose not to. That can be just a harmful as a bold face lie.
