Kingdom Living
Today was a day "off" for us. Actually, for us, it was our second Sunday "off". June 24 was our last Sunday as the pastoral family at FUMC - Sylva. July 1, we actually took a day "off". We moved into our new home and our new town this past Tuesday. Today, all pastors who moved were asked not to attend their new appointments. This is a great thing for everyone involved. It gives churches and pastors a week to deal with the transition and all of the emotions that go along with it.
SO, this morning we attended a church nearby. The pastor there had a good Word for us. I know that God was speaking through her to me.
She was speaking on the difference between worldly living and Kingdom Living.
And, if I'm honest, I've been doing too much worldly living lately. I've been through a myriad of emotions in the last few weeks and I've allowed myself to get caught up in how I've felt about things instead of focusing on God.
This is one of the scriptures she used and it stepped all over my toes today.
Romans 12:1-2
So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
God got my attention this morning and reminded me WHO I am and WHOSE I am.
I will be refocusing on HIM. Fixing my attention on HIM.
Giving HIM my everyday, ordinary life.
Because it is His.
Because I want nothing more than to serve HIM where he has led us. To be consumed by Him from the inside out!! Not just doing church. Not going just because we're supposed to go. Or halfheartedly because it's my husbands job. I want HIS fire to flow out of me. I want to be truly changed.
No longer able to be dragged down by the world and culture around me.
Now, He has led us to a new town and has appointed us to serve a new church.
I'm praying as we start at our new church home this week, I will be focusing on God and giving him my whole life.
That I may be doing real Kingdom living!
Won't you join me?!?
in HIM-
