New Salem Mountain Festival 2011

Last weekend, the kids and I traveled to Georgia for the New Salem Mountain Festival.
If you missed the post about why I love the festival so much {and are interested} go here.
We left at about 2PM and arrived in time for supper.  While Grammy put the finishing touches on the pinto beans, pork chops, mac and cheese, creamed corn and cornbread, the rest of us spent some time on the back deck. The kids were playing with their new train whistles Granddaddy had got for them.
.
And then there was this.....
what a blessing from the Lord.

My Mom's beautiful decorations on her side porch....

The next morning we headed to the festival.
We were there a little early, so I tried to get a shot of all four kids together....
This is the best I got.....
The beautiful trees.....
I love this picture of Lillie.
My dad gave Brady a new hat.  He loves  it!!!
Three of four got their faces painted.....
Brady as Batman!
Lillie's pretty butterfly
Maggie the Cheetah.....
We had funnel cakes, and more pinto beans (me), hot dogs for the kids, and kettle corn. We watched many people sing and just had a great time visiting and playing with family...

My Dad arranged for Brady to get to ride in the firetruck.
These three had almost as much fun as Brady did!
Brady was SUPER EXCITED. He smiled and smiled....
and then fell asleep. He had played so hard all day....
On Sunday morning, we went back to the festival where my home church was having church in the woods that morning.  The choir, the men's ensemble and the children's choir all sang.
There is a LOT of family in this picture.  Only two people here aren't related to me.  There are two cousins, my uncle and my dad in this picture.
This is my Great - Aunt Lila.  I love her so much.  When I was at home, I sang in the choir and sat with her always.....

Unfortunately after church, we had to leave to head home.
But we had a grand time!

  1. I was grieved to my core that Luke and I were out of town for the festival. It is one of the highlights of my year. Love the pic of Brady and your dad! I saw Richard at Bama Side on the mountain a couple of weeks ago. I miss seeing all of you so much. One of these days we WILL get together when you are in town! Love you cousin!
