Moments {11.28.14}

I have been saying for months -- probably almost every week for a year -- that I hope time will slow down.
This week, things did slow down for just a bit.
School was out for three days and a lot of our evening activities have slowed some or were cancelled.
It has been a wonderful evening.
I'm truly thankful for this week!
Here are the moments I captured throughout.......

Saturday, November 22, 2014 --
Maggie had a sleepover on Friday night.
First thing Saturday, we were treated to a fashion show.

It was also the first Saturday in a long while that we had nothing to attend. No soccer, no church events. Nada.

324/365..... It. was. glorious!

Sunday, November 23, 2014 -- A day of church, family and then church again.

selfies on Sunday afternoon.with my silly boy....
At youth Sunday afternoon, hubs led what we like to call The Game of Life.
The kids learned how to deal with different financial situations and how to live 'the game of life'.
It was loads of fun.
This is my favorite picture from the evening.

325/365.....I have no idea what he was saying to this group.

Monday, November 24, 2014 --
school, work and then home to get homework done.
Part of her homework is practicing.
Loving listening to her play.

Brady had a ritual when he goes to bed each night.
His dad or I read him a story, then we say prayers, Then, if I'm putting him to bed, he give me the I love you sign in sign language.
And recently he has added this....

326/365.....hang loose.

Tuesday, November 25, 2014 --  This night was my night to host my book club at my house.
I'm kind of cheesy in that I really like themes.
SO, since our book was from the 1918 era, we had finger foods.

We read "The Beautiful and the Damned" by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
While none of us loved the book, most of us were glad we read it.

327/365.... Accomplishment.

Wednesday, November 26, 2014 --` A day of hanging out at home and getting some work done.
We went out for supper and got our first Christmas Card when we got home.
This note was in the card.
GREAT gift!

We even spent the evening together watching this.

328/365......It's a classic.

Thursday, November 27, 2014 --
Thanksgiving for us was a trip to Greensboro to be with part of hubby's family.
It was a great day.

329/365..... Happy Thanksgiving!

Friday, November 28, 2014 --
Today has been a rare day with nothing to do.
IT was (AGAIN)  glorious.
I tried to do some Black Friday shopping online but it didn't go well.
OH well. Shopping tomorrow so hopefully I will do better then.

It's time to take down the Thanksgiving decor.....

and put up the Christmas !!!!

OH, and our friends Tripp and Jenny brought donuts and stopped by for breakfast this morning.
We were all thrilled to get to spend a little time with them.

330/365.... some of our favs!

Again, I am so thankful for this calmed down week.
And I'm looking forward to this season of Advent that is starting on Sunday.

Moments {11.21.14}

This has been a great week.
Here is what has been happening in our world.

Saturday, November 15, 2014 --
Lillie's soccer tournament began.
They had an 11AM game that they won easily. Her team was ranked number one.
We then went to lunch as a family.

and came back for Game number two.
This one was harder.  But, we pulled out a win!
We were headed to the finals.

317/365.....she got to be captain at the second game.

Sunday, November 16, 2014 --
It was the night of our 'Final Flocking".
We put all 200 flamingos in one of our church families yard.

We then went to drop off all of the blankets we had made for our local children's hospital.

318/365..... awesome group!

Monday, November 17, 2014 --
Monday it was back to work.
And all the usual Monday things.
I made a quick trip to the grocery store and saw these.
They smelled like heaven but I wasn't ready to get one yet....

Last week, I cut up a bunch of celery.
I had read on Pinterest that I could group my own celery from the root that I cut off the celery.

319/ is working.

Tuesday, November 18. 2014 --
Tuesday night was our soccer awards night.
Lillie's team were the Catawba Cup Champions.
They won the big game that was played on Sunday.

320/365.....  my soccer stars!

Wednesday, November 19,2014--

Allie had an endocrinologist appointment on Wednesday morning.  Her endo said she is doing a FABULOUS JOB!  Her A1C was only 4.9.  AWESOMENESS!!!

We celebrated by having lunch with Ken's Mom and doing a bit of shopping before we headed to get groceries.
On Wednesday afternoon, I was trying to help Lillie with her homework and I had a big Mom fail moment.
I was so frustrated because I had explained something to her three times.
I felt that she wasn't listening to me.
She started crying and quite frankly, I wanted to cry, too.
Hubs came in and saved us all by being able to take her and explain in it another way so she could understand what was being said.

I walked in the room to get my phone and found this....
I wanted to cry even more.

at  least there was taco salad for supper.

Thursday, November 20, 2014 --

Work for a bit  -- then I took Maggie, Lillie and Brady to get their flu vaccines (Allie got hers the day before at the endocrinologist).
I think got them back to school and went back to work for the afternoon before going to get them from school. BUSY day.....

This was my Throwback Thursday pic.
Lillie and Maggie from April of this year at my Mom's house.

Then it was homework, supper and the normal evening routine....

322/365..... Keeping MY own math skills sharp.

Friday, November 21, 2014 --
This morning I got a second run in for the week and then went to get some work done.
Found this pic on pinterest and sent it to my friends.
SO funny, I think.

Hubby and I  went to the movies to see Mockingjay - part 1.
It was INTENSE.  Looking forward to the next one.

Tonight, Maggie has a friend sleeping over.
We ordered pizza and are just hanging out.
Thankful for a quiet night at home....

323/365,,,,hanging out.

It has been a great week.
I am certainly looking forward to some days off next week!!

Moments {11.14.14}

I almost forgot today was the day to put up my pictures for this week.
Since I just put up last weeks pics on Monday, it seemed too soon.
But, it is Friday and I am excited to share another week work of  pictures that tell the story of our week.

Saturday, November 8, 2014 -- In between Brady and Lillie's soccer games, I finally got around to putting the Halloween decorations away and getting out the few Thanksgiving things I have.
Maggie and Lillie made these adorable turkeys when we lived in Sylva.
Maggie had Mrs. Joni and Mrs. Aimee when she was in first grade and Lillie had them for Kindergarten.
We were so blessed to have them as their teachers.
There were fantastic.
So thankful to have these little turkeys to remind us of them each year.

After both soccer games, we came home for lunch and then went to see a movie with Papa and Nana.  We saw "Alexander and the Horrible, Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Day".
Very cute movie.
We then went to the bookstore where Papa treated the kids to some new books.
and then we got some supper before heading back home.

310/365.... We got a picture before Papa and Nana headed out for the night as they were headed on to my sisters house the next morning and we wouldn't see them again until Christmas.

Sunday, November 9, 2014 -- We had church, of course, and then had a late lunch out as a family before heading back to church for youth and for Christmas Play Practice.
These kids are always fun!

That day I took a picture of the books my children got the day before at the bookstore.
You can tell so much about their personalities by looking at the books they chose.
Any guesses on who got what?

311/ 365......Definitely individuals!

Monday, November 10, 2014 --  Work and running errands before picking up the kids from school.
Then it was out to eat with our youth group.
We went as a group to eat at a fundraiser for a local boy who has Cancer.

This is my favorite picture of the night.
One of our senior high girls is trying to get  one of our adults to smile.
He wasn't thrilled about being in the picture.

We then headed out to do a special flocking for a veteran's breakfast the next morning.

312/365.... such great kids!

Tuesday,  November 11, 2014 --  Another whirlwind weekday but school was out on this day for Veteran's day.  I worked for a bit in the morning and came home in time to get Allie to her orthodontist appointment.
There was still homework to be done before school the next day once we made it home.

313/365....... working hard.

Ken had an evening meeting. SO, once I got everyone off to bed, I sat down to do my own 'homework' in front of the fireplace.

Wednesday, November 12, 2014 --  On Wednesday afternoon, Brady came home and did part of his homework.
He had to write two sentences saying what he was thankful for.
He said "I am thankful for my mom and dad. I am thankful for Nana and Grandpap".
SO sweet.

These days it seems like my kids fuss and fight a LOT.
So, in those moments when they are actually loving each other -- I grab the camera.

314/365..... sisterly love....

Thursday, November 13, 2014 --   This was our last day of the bible study I've been co-leading at church.
Endings are always sad to me. But have loved this doing this study with these sweet ladies!
What an amazing group!

315A/365.... Our Morning Group.

315B/365......Our Evening Group
(Picture borrowed from my friend, Mandy.)

Friday, November 14, 2014 -- Today has been a great day.
Hubs let me rest this morning. He got up and made breakfast and got everyone off to school.
I did finally get up and run some errands and do some work. =)

This evening, we made homemade pizzas and have been just enjoying being at home together for once.

316/365......loving on each other for a few minutes while eating strawberries.

Making homemade pizza ( it's been a while) earned me the title
Best. Mom. Ev-er!
I will take it!

Halloween 2014

School was out on Halloween this year.
It happened to be the end of the First Nine Weeks, so they were out of school on that Thursday and on Friday, which was Halloween.
Last year we fooled around and didn't even carve a pumpkin.
Brady has been asking since then if  this year we can carve a pumpkin.

So, on Halloween morning we did just that.

Everyone got to have their own pumpkin.

Everyone got their hands in the guts and cleaning them out.

Everyone, especially Brady, was loving it!

I ended up carving 3 out of 4 of the pumpkins, but they all had a great time and helped with their pumpkins.

Maggie's is a pumpkin with a kitten coming out of it, Brady's had two ghosts (that he drew for me to carve out), Lillie's was a cute monster, and Allie carved a witch into her own.

After lunch, it was time to get into our costumes because we had to head over to church at 3 to get ready for our Trunk or Treat.
This year.....

Lillie was a witch....

Maggie was an 80's Valley Girl......

Checking out her manicure and seeming uninterested.

This kid.
He was a HAPPY Skeleton.
First, he wanted to be a ghost.
But, when he found that we were just going to go all Charlie Brown on him and buy a sheet, he decided against it.
He then said he wanted to be a werewolf.
I said nothing scary!
He said well, I will be a  happy skeleton then.

He is smiling....

Allie chose to be a flapper.

A group shot.

That evening we went over to our churches Fall Festival.
Allie worked the Fall Trail with our youth and the others did fun activities, ate popcorn and candy, and Trunk or Treated.
It was a great night!
