Moments {1.31.14}

This week was full of fun moments.
As I sit here on Friday night looking back over my week, I'm so very tired.
It is a good tired, though.
I had the opportunity to spend some extra time with the kids this week.
Priceless moments.
Here are a few of the moments from our week......

Saturday, January 25, 2014 ---
We headed home from the mountains on Saturday morning.
It was snowing as we drove away....
Love this view.
Miss it so very much....

25/365.......But it was so very nice to be back in our own beds.
Sweet Lillie in her "princess bed".

Sunday, January 26, 2014 ---
After a busy day of church stuff, hubs and I sat down to watch the Grammy's.
Did anyone else find them just plain weird this year?
The best performance of the night was this one.
Sara Barailles and Carol King.

26/365.....I've started writing letters to my kids again.
We write back and forth.
I hope this continues forever..

Monday, January 27, 2014 --
Bible study time.  Was working on Isaiah that morning.
Love studying my bible....

27/365.....It was warm outside. In the mid- sixties.  That warranted a little extra time on the playground...

Tuesday, January 28, 2014 --
A phone call at 11:30AM telling me school was being let out due to an impending snowstorm changed my plans for Tuesday.
Instead of a visit to the dentist for Brady, we picked up the girls from school and waited on the snow.

28/365.....what a difference a day makes.....

Wednesday, January 29, 2014--
We had a grand time sledding down the little hill behind our house.

29/365......two moments to share.....
Allie and Maggie made banana bread for breakfast.
All by themselves.

We southern girls love our snow.
Or at least this one does.....

Thursday, January 30, 2014 --
Another snow day.
Took these three shopping with their Christmas money.

30/365.....Peace.  It's what God is trying to teach me about right now....

Friday, January 31, 2014--
Bedtime kisses from Spidey.....

31/365.....He shows up at my house pretty regularly......

I love these weekly posts.
I have a few moments to look back and my week.
And realize how blessed I really am.

I am a southern girl through and through.
And that means I love snow!!
It also means that I love snow so much because we don't get it that often.
It is something to look forward to.

Yesterday, it started snowing around 2PM.
It was the tiniest snow I have ever seen.
We only got a couple of inches but it snowed from 2PM until about 11PM.
I was kinda bummed we didn't get more......but I was happy that it finally snowed!

So, this morning, we got outside as quickly as we could to play in the snow.

We had such a great time playing in the snow.

Allie heading down the hill.

His sled got away from him....

Lillie liked using her sled as a snowboard.....

And Daddy did, too.....

As did Maggie......

All smiles.....

My boy.....

Sweet Lillie.....
{when she wasn't screaming at everyone to get out of her way. ;) }

Maggie plowed the hill on this trip down....

so she just ate the snow.

She liked going down backward.

The first group shot I took.....

She has loved eating snow all of her life.

This is what happens when your sister throws snow in your face.

some scenery....

My favorite group shot of the day.

But I got several that I really liked.....
like this one.

Sisters are awesome!

Another group shot.

and another.

and another.

and one last group shot.

After about an hour we were all cold, so we can in for some down time.
After a while, we had lunch.
Then we all walked over to church and the kids helped me work in my office --
There have been so many events that things had piled up.
Today was the perfect day to work on that.
The kids were a big help.
{For a little while}

After we finished at church and got home, I got my run in for the day and then made supper for the family.
Allie had requested taco's when I made my grocery list so it was taco night....
Taco Wednesday instead of taco Tuesday.
All of our evening activities at church were cancelled so we didn't have to rush supper.
That was so nice.

After supper- which was later than usual, the kids all got their bathes and got in bed.
They were tired after such a busy day.

This Mama's heart is full tonight though.
We had such a wonderful snow day together.

And guess what?!!?!
School is out again tomorrow.
But, I'm not sure what we will do.
Most of the snow has melted.
Guess we will see what kind of fun we can find for tomorrow.

Psalm 91 -- He is My Refuge

picture from:

I saw part of this passage tonight in a lesson I was reading.
I went to read the rest of it and wanted to share it here as it is something I need to remember each and every day of my life.
I'm sure someone else needs to be reminded that HE is YOUR refuge, too.....

Psalm 91

The Message (MSG)
1-13 You who sit down in the High God’s presence,

spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow,
Say this: “God, you’re my refuge.
I trust in you and I’m safe!”
That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps,
    shields you from deadly hazards.
His huge outstretched arms protect you—
    under them you’re perfectly safe;
his arms fend off all harm.
Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night,
not flying arrows in the day,
Not disease that prowls through the darkness,
not disaster that erupts at high noon.
Even though others succumb all around,
drop like flies right and left,
no harm will even graze you.
You’ll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance,
watch the wicked turn into corpses.
Yes, because God’s your refuge,
the High God your very own home,
Evil can’t get close to you,
harm can’t get through the door.
He ordered his angels
to guard you wherever you go.
If you stumble, they’ll catch you;
their job is to keep you from falling.
You’ll walk unharmed among lions and snakes,
and kick young lions and serpents from the path.
If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God,
“I’ll get you out of any trouble.
I’ll give you the best of care
if you’ll only get to know and trust me.
Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times;
I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party.
I’ll give you a long life,
give you a long drink of salvation!”

Thank you God, for the reminder tonight that YOU
my refuge at all times.
Amen. {Let it be}

Moments {1.24.14}

I'm posting my moments from the past week a day late because we have been out of town the last couple of days for a celebration.

More on that to come......

For now, here are the moments that marked the last week for us......

Saturday, January 18, 2014
I spent last weekend at Resurrection 2014 with some of my senior high youth.
I used to attend this same event back when I was a youth with this guy!
He was pastor back then. He came to my church when I was 16 and stayed for 9 years.
Pastor's are important and always influential.
Always important in life.
Especially when they are as good as this one....
But this guy, is so much more to me!
I'm now able to call him my mentor and my friend.
SO very glad I got to spend some time with him over the weekend.

18/ fav shot from the weekend.
Lights and a heart for a weekend of Hope.

Sunday, January 19, 2014
This is Matt.
He is one of my awesome youth.
He loves to borrow my phone and take random selfies.
He's holding a putt putt ball......

19/ shot with Andy Nixon after Resurrection 2014 was all done....

Monday, January 20, 2014
On Monday, we drove up to my in laws near Greensboro.
My MIL has been working on a dress for me and it was time to pick it up.
I was so excited to see it all put together.....

20/365....on the way home, we had O'Charley's.
A family favorite right now.
{read: no one cries when we say we are going to eat there}

Tuesday, January 21, 2014
"Mom, shhhh.  I'm being a secret agent".....

21/365......gorgeous sunrise......

Wednesday, January 22, 2014
I got some devastating news of a friends death on Wednesday.
I was feeling so bummed and so sad for his family.
These girls brightened my day when they showed up at church to show me their dresses and masks for their masquerade ball.
SO pretty.
Love them!

22/365....... my nemesis.......

Thursday, January 23, 2014
We drove up to the mountains for an incredible celebration.
The sky over Asheville was so beautiful!

23/365......These two.
Back together again.
I got another shot with nice sweet smiles.
But the silly faces they wanted to do is my fav.....

Friday, January 24, 2014
I got to have a wonderful pedicure....

24/365......that incredible celebration?
It was a 40th birthday party for me.
More to come on that, but for now ---
