Weekend Wrap-Up

Our weekend was VERY busy.  As was the whole week before that.   To give you an idea what I'm talking about,  my 20 hour a week job turned into  38.25 hour week this past week.
LOTS going on around here. =)

On Friday, the girls went to a sleepover at their friend Emma's house. Hubs and Brady went to  wedding rehearsal and I worked at our churches Youth Center. Our Youth Center is open every Friday night from 7- 10:30PM.  We seek to offer a safe place for kids in 7th-12th grade to come and be safe and see Christ in the adults around them.

On Saturday, I went went our youth to Carowinds (local amusement park) to Christian Music Day.  We left the church at 9 AM and returned home at 12 AM.  It was a day full of rides for everyone else - I don't do rides. But, I enjoyed being there with the youth and seeing them enjoy the rides.
Then we went to the Christian Music Day Concert.
We arrived just in time to see the speaker, Tom Richter. He spoke on what Jesus said was the greatest commandment. (love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. And love your neighbor as yourself!)  It was really good!
After him was Newsboys and Chris Tomlin. Both were excellent! It was a great, long, day. That ended with sweet, sweet worship.
Hubs and Brady went to a train show that morning, then they picked up the girls.  Hubs had a wedding, 3 kids went to a sweet couple from churches house and another sweet church member picked Maggie up for her Football game.  SO, so very thankful for all the wonderful folks who helped us this weekend!!!

Yesterday was a normal Sunday.  Church then youth.  Funny, thing is that was the calmest Sunday I will have for a while. Next week, I will be at church most all day. .....Church, youth, children's play practice, and a super secret initiative with our youth later that evening, too.  This schedule with continue until December.

So, if you wonder what I'm up to because you haven't heard from me for a while.  I'm just running around like a chicken with my head cut off.  Matter of fact, I've got plans to document each day of our week so I can look back and remember our crazy busy lives.....and laugh.  I will laugh won't I?

Cause right now, I just feel like I need to sleep.

Good night all!
Back soon!

Vulnerable

Today, I came across an article on Facebook that made me stop and pause.
I took pause at the title of the article alone.

As soon as I saw the title, I knew I wanted to read it.
I mean,
me? Vulnerable?
Sure.....but the MOST vulnerable?
I'm not sure......

So, I hopped on over and read what it had to say.
And I have to say that I agree with this article.
Pastor's wives probably are the most vulnerable people in your midst.
We do, indeed, tend to have to just take whatever is thrown at us in silence.
It's a hard job.
One that I once said I would never have.  Never ever.
God had other plans........

Anyway, I'm not sharing this article so people will feel sorry for me.
Because God has blessed me with people in my life who allow me to be ME and for that I'm so very thankful.
I'm posting this article for all of my PW friends.

The advice given here for things you can do to love on your pastor's wife is great advice.
Find a way to show her your love and appreciation.
She is vulnerable and your token of appreciation may be just what she needs to make it through the day.

If you are a PW and you are reading this, the article offers great advice for you, too.
Go check it out!!

Too Tired, Christians Mocking Christians, & Rejoicing!

Last weekend, I began to feel a tickle in my throat whilst bowling with the youth Sunday afternoon.   I thought, "It figures. 3 of 4 kids have had colds since school started back so now, I'm getting it.".  And I did get it.  The thing I don't understand is how all 3 of them had minor colds and mine becomes fevers, chills, body aches and coughing fits.  It's now over a week later and I'm still feeling tired and coughing from it all.

I had big plans to start a 'series' of posts today entitled "A Day in the Life"......I've actually been meaning to do these types of posts every season for years and just haven't done it.  I want to do each day of the week and record all the craziness in our schedules so that in the years to come I can look back and see.  What will I see?  Maybe I will see that life is every bit as chaotic and crazy as I thought it was......OR maybe, I'll find that it was really easy and be wishing for these days and ways again.  Maybe.

I even took pictures to share my day with everyone........But ya'll. I'm just too tired.

After being sick for a week and the craziness that has been this Monday, I'm too tired to do it.  To tell you a how long and crazy my day has been, know this:  My family just finished supper at 8PM.  That's way late when that is passed one kids bedtime and coming right up on everyone else's.

So, for today, I just want to share a couple of links with you.

The first is to an article entitled, "When Christians Mock Christians."  Courtney says:

"To be honest, I am frustrated that there is even such a THING as SIDES within the church.  We are ONE – one body – one in Christ – one bride!"

I totally agree with her.  Why does there have to be sides to this? I think this is one of Satan's biggest tricks to keep us from building God's kingdom.  It's sad. Very sad.

The second link is to an article called "That We Might Rejoice". Ruth from Grace Laced, shares that we should be able to rejoice no matter what season we are in simply because who we are in our creator.
ouch.
What a struggle rejoicing can be for me. I tend to be a pessimist realist.  I call things like I see them and that's a lot of negativity at times.  So, yeah. ouch.
Then she talks about teaching that to our children.   She says:

" But telling them so doesn’t make them trust it, love it, or own it. It must be enough for me, for them to see it as truth to behold, truth to believe, truth to become enraptured by."

Double and Triple ouch.  Rejoicing in HIM alone no matter the season should be enough for me no matter what.  It should be enough for all of us.

I hope that someone reads these links and gets as much as out them as I did today.
It's 9PM and I think I'm off for an early bedtime.
I haven't run in a week and I'd like to get back to it tomorrow if I can do it without hacking up a lung.  We shall see.

Have a great Monday Night everyone.

Too tired but Rejoicing In HIM-

My Instagram Life 9.13.13

Life is traveling at warp speed it seems.
I feel like we are so busy that I'm missing it some days......
It's one reason my I love my Instagram posts.
It helps me stop and reflect on our week........
So, here's what we've been up to this week.

Brady got these cool new pj's for his birthday.
He loves them so much that he insisted on wearing them to bed.
Even though it's September and still hot in North Carolina.

I want to print this out and put it on the wall in my kitchen.

I love the saying. =)

I found THIS at Target this week.
It means that Fall is on it's way and I, for one, could not be happier!

This girl had her first game last Saturday.
She loved  it.
And I love my cheerleader!

After the game, I took three of my kiddo's and grabbed an early supper before heading home.
I took these pictures because my kids notoriously eat nothing (very picky).
All three of them practically cleaned their plates
and got free icecream.
Hooray for Jason's Deli!

I only had three kiddo's with me because these two had headed up to the mountains to watch the Appalatichain Game.  I think Allie had a great Daddy/Daugther date.

Late Sunday afternoon found us with only Brady at home.
He wanted to watch one of his new movies he got for his birthday.
Can you tell what it is!?!?

One afternoon this week, I came back from running errands and stopped to get Brady from hubs office.
This is the life of a PK.....

Last year for Christmas, Brady asked for a skateboard.
My brother got it for him and got him a helmet.
He's finally decided he likes the helmet......(he's yet to figure out the skateboard).

Last night, my girls got to experience their first concert.
More on that soon!
The concert was in Greensboro and we had made the decision to spend the night with my in-laws and allow the girls to skip school today.
I'm glad we did because it was about 11:30PM before we even made to back to the house last night!

Since we spent the night, we got to visit with Granddaddy, Nana LeeAnne and Mom Bea today.
AND we visited my favorite store in Greensboro.
Do you guys love Swoozies as much as I do?!?!

It's been a great week and tomorrow will be another busy day for this family!!!

What have you been up to this week?

Legacy

Yesterday, hubs preached on leaving a legacy for our kids.  He spoke of the need to grow our kids in the Kingdom of God.  That it takes parents and the community of God to lead our children so they need to be in church.
It was an incredible sermon.  I was so proud of him.
Since I left, I haven't been able to get this song out of my head.
Please take time to go watch it and come back.

And, I was an am still even more in awe of how God works.
He put those words on my hubby's heart to share with us all yesterday.
Immediately following the service, we had our Fall Kick-off for our Youth Ministry.
Where I shared with the parents that even though the people who lead the youth ministry have some influence on their kids, it is they (parents) who have the MOST influence on their kids.  And shared that we, the people who are leading the youth ministry, are in partnership with them and that we aren't here to do it for them.

Today, I came across this article....
Again, God talking to me more about our kids (my kids) in church.
I can see this all over our society these days.
Church is seen as an option IF nothing else conflicts.
Unfortunately, for our kids, if we see church that way,
They are likely to see it that way.
They might even begin to see it as not necessary at all.
But, as my hubby shared yesterday our kids needs to be brought up in the kingdom -- in community as the article above states.

I don't want my children to see church as the last thing on their to do list.
I want them to understand God's love for them and that church is where they gather with their community of faith to worship together,  fellowship together, serve together, do life together.
To see that together they can learn from one another, hold one another up and help each other when needed.
The song (above) just keeps running through my head....

I wanna leave a legacy
how will they remember me?
Did I choose to love?
Did I point to you enough to make a mark on things?
I wanna leave an offering.
A child  of mercy and grace
who blessed Your Name apologetically
And leave that kind of legacy.

I want to leave a legacy.
That kind of legacy.
Let it be, Jesus!!!

What kind of legacy are you leaving?
What kind of legacy do you want to leave?

Last Saturday, we had a super fun Star Wars party for our boy.
It was so much fun!

Before our friends Olivia and Kandi went home after the party, we went to supper!
By the time we got to this point in our day, we ALL felt like this!!

Ohhhh, here is a pic of the neon pants I bought on Monday for a steal!!

I got those pants while taking my boy school shopping.
We were at Target and he asked me to take this picture of him.

Tuesday was his last first day of preschool.
{{{SIGH}}}

After school on Tuesday, B and I went to get groceries and stopped for lunch here on the way.
I <3 at="" mcalister="" p="" s.="" sweet="" tea="" the="">
It is seriously good stuff.

Last week, I took all the blond highlights out of my hair and went darker, red"er" for fall.
I'm so ready for cooler weather!

That's what I've been up to this week.
We are headed out shortly to Ikea (yeay!)

What have you been up to this week?

Things I Love Thursdays

Here we are.
It's September 5 and we are between two seasons.
Summer is quickly coming to and end.
Which means that I have gotten some great deals on summer clothes!

Like this Lilly Pulitzer dress that I got a fantastic deal on (minus the belt).
Now, if my husband would just take me on a nice date so I can wear it!!
I hate that I didn't have it to wear at the beach.
I mean, it's perfect for the beach, yes?

And just Monday, I got the cutest neon pink kacki's form the Gap for less than $11!!
They are similar to these except neon.
Very summery

I'm definitely enjoying wearing my new clothes and hope to be able to do so for a few more weeks.
But if I'm honest, I'm longing for Fall!!
It's my favorite season.
I got this candle this past week.
It's called Autumn Leaves!
I have been burning it every evening and it smells divine!

Yes, I'm stuck between two season right now,
but loving every minute of it.

T is for Twins Turning 1!!

It doesn't seem possible, but my nephews turned 1 at the end of July.

This past Sunday was their party.
My sister did a Dr. Seuss Thing 1 and Thing 2 party.

Here is the food table full of yummy foods.
I love the tulle streaming down behind the table.

Adorable centerpieces....

A basket full of goody bags.....

A wreath for the door....

Thing 1 and Thing 2 cupcakes....

So cute!!

Presents.....

It was time to feed these boys some food.
My kiddo's loved getting to help.

I think this was my favorite. This wreath made out of pages of a book.
Too cute!
She also had Dr Suess' Happy Birthday To You!" Book for people to sign for the boys.

The adorable little sign to ask everyone to write in the books.

Again.....LOVE.

We are ONE....

Love these chairs for the boys.....

When it was time for the cake, smash cakes were brought out for the babies.
.
Holden wasn't sure he liked it....

Bradford on the other hand, thought it was pretty good stuff....

even to smear in your face....

Holden was more interested in smiling and playing with the people in front of him.

Next up, time for presents....

Fun was playing with the wrapping paper for sure.

My sister's family.

Such a fun day.
Glad we got to be a part of it.

Star Wars Party

My sweet little 5 year old boy requested a Star Wars Party.
That's exactly what he go this past Saturday.

The wind on Saturday made things a bit more challenging for the tables.
But I think we managed alright.
I took the easy way this time and bought a party pack of printables from Etsy this time.
It certainly made things bit easier and I really loved the stripes and circles (NOT dots -- because "boys don't like polka dots" according to Brady).

Snacks were on our menu......Padawan popcorn, Vader Veggies with Droid Dip, Princess Leia Lays, Boba Fett Fruit, Grape Sabers, and Yoda Soda ( and, R2D2 H2O- not pictured).

We also had cake
with Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Yoda (who you can barely see behind the candle) on top.

and delicious cupcakes....

OH - and Wookie Cookies.
These were a hit!

In our Jedi Training Facility, the trainees had to prove themselves worthy of becoming a padawan by completing an obstacle course.
The two Jedi Masters led the way.....

First obstacle, driving a pod racer.....

Walking over the lava....

Through the tunnel and down the slide.

Once everyone had completed their course, they took an oath and received their training robes.....

Thank you Nana LeeAnne for the perfect, homemade and personalized robes.
They are awesome!

Next up, everyone received their light sabers and were trained in using them.

After that, it was time to destroy the Death Star.
I think Hubs learned a lesson here.
Next time, tie the pinata to a tree instead of holding it yourself.
Else, you will get whacked....

After all that hard work, it was time for some refreshments.
We sang to the birthday boy and got some food!

Everyone enjoyed the break.
It was super hot out there....

Then, it was gift opening time.
Always a fun part of a birthday party!

After all the gifts were done,  Darth Vader showed up to
challenge these kids to join the Dark Side.

But no one wanted to join him and evil was soundly defeated.

Lastly, it was time for some photo ops!
All the young jedi with Jedi Master Pippa and Darth Vader.

The Birthday boy and Darth Vader.

Darth Vader and my 4 kiddo's....

Brady loved his party.
I think all the kids had a great time !
Thank you so much to my hubby for double duty as a Jedi Master and Darth Vader.
And thank you to our sweet friend, Emily, who agreed to come and be Jedi Master Pippa for us!  You both were awesome!!
IT was a fantastic day.
