Sunday Songs - One Touch

This past week in our Jesus The One And Only  study,
we studied the healing of the woman with the issue of bleeding.

It reminded me of this song by Nicole C Mullen.

I long to have as much faith as the woman who just knew that by touching Jesus she would be healed.
As I get ready to head off to church this morning, I'm praying for a heart that is ready to hear from Him today.
To be given more faith.
To be touched by Him.
To be made more whole.

My Instagram Life -- 2.22.13

It's that time of the week again.
Here are the snapshots that I took this week with my phone!

Last Saturday afternoon we had a surprise snow!
The two pics on the right of this collage are the same spot.
Pics taken only about 30 minutes apart.... if that..

This was one of my favorite shots of the day.
I got a lot more good ones with my "real" camera.
Check them out here.

And as the sun was setting that night I got this quick shot of the view from my front porch.
So pretty!

Sunday was church.
They had taken the cross from our Ash Wednesday service and set it up in the sanctuary.
What a reminder that we've named and nailed our "stuff" to the cross in preparation for Easter.

After church, we went to our favorite local Mexican place for lunch.
The last couple of times we've been there, we've been given so-papilla's for dessert.
They just bring them out.
No ordering them.
No charge.
We are trying to figure out if this is a special Sunday thing
or if it's just a new thing....
either way, we like it!!

By Sunday afternoon, this is all that was left of the snow.....one poor leaning snowgirl.

On Monday night, hubs and I went out for a late Valentine's Day.
To my favorite -- The Melting Pot.

This was taken by one of the girls when we got home....
love it.
even if it is a bit fuzzy.

Tuesday, I met my sweet friend and mentor for lunch in Boone, NC for lunch.
It is always a wonderful time of love and wisdom (for me, from her)!!
Feeds my soul!
And on the way home, I stopped and got these.
They've fed my belly.
One too many times for breakfast this week.
Good thing there isn't one too close to my house!!

I took this shot right before heading off the mountain.
Beautiful mountain top views!

And yet there was an incredible sunset in the valley that night, too!

On Wednesday, I was walking back across the street from church and got this shot of the sky.
LOVE it.

I found this on my pillow one night this week.
Always love surprises on my pillow.

Allie's fifth grade class is going to DC.
Hubs and I have struggled with the decision to let her to since we heard about it.
For various reasons.
She's only 11 being at the top.
Another big concern, though, has been cost.
The trip costs quite a lot.
Definitely, too much for us to pay for me to go with her to DC.
Matter of fact, hubs said the other day that if the school continues this trip and all 3 of our girls go to DC in fifth grade that we could take our whole family (all 6 of us)  to DC for the same amount. =/
This has been the hardest decision to make, and we still aren't for sure for many reasons,
but our girl really  wants to go.
She wants to go so badly that she emptied her piggy bank and left this note offering it and her birthday money on her Daddy's desk.
Broke.my.heart.

It's been a super busy week
Time to get back to it.
Linking up at....

Finally, A Snow Day!

Last Friday, I heard  the weather forecast.
It said that we had a slight chance of snow.
In North Carolina, typically a slight chance means the wind will shift or the moisture will break up over the mountains and it will turn out to be nothing.

So, I didn't think much of it.
On Saturday afternoon, I was sitting in the den doing my bible study when Maggie came in the room.
She happened to look out the window
and exclaimed that it was snowing.

It was snowing. Hard!
Everyone came running to see.
We went outside to check it out.
It was snowing so hard that you couldn't see 50 feet away.
There is a cemetery behind Lillie that you can hardly see because of how hard and fast the snow was coming down.

Since we haven't seen much snow in the last couple of years, the girls were so excited they
went outside in what they happened to be wearing at the time.

Even short sleeves.....

I convinced them to come put on some more clothes and we went out to play in the snow.
The snow man building began.

Maggie was so proud of her little snow man....

Unfortunately for her, Brady thought it looked like the perfect tower for kicking down.

Thankfully, everyone pitched in to build another one.

It snowed about 3 inches in an hour and it was even thundering outside.

The kids ran and played the whole time it snowed and for a while afterward.
They made {2} snowmen, had snowball fights,  and even made a giant snowball.

It was beautiful to see and so much fun for us!

The sunset through the trees....
see the little bit of pink there?

I love twilight anyway, but with snow?
It's breath taking.

It was such a wonderful day.
And now, bring on spring!!

365.6

Clearly, I'm failing at taking a picture a day everyday.
Somehow I missed a whole week. =/
Oh, well.

Just gonna start again.

2.10.13 ~ Sunday.....no pics.

2.11.13 ~ Monday.....running errands so no pics.

2.12.13 ~  Tuesday.....Brady and I went to see Lillie at her Heroes fair.
She did a great job!

I just got cracked up watching him.
He had his sisters ipod and headphones and was singing along with every song.

2.13.13 ~ Ash Wednesday.
I had more errands to run and then the Ash Wednesday service.
Hubs did a beautiful  {and convicting} service.

2.14.13 ~ Thursday.... Maggie took pics when they gave me my Valentines gift.
I was {and am} super excited.
We are going to the Melting Pot on Monday!!!
And yep, that's my robe.  I was cold, so I put it on while I cooked supper....

and I know this is blurry.
But I still love it.

2.15.13~Friday.  Lazy day around here.
It was warm enough in the afternoon to go outside with out coats and play.
The kids were out there for a while.
It was lovely.

2.16.13~ Saturday.
And this afternoon.....we looked out the window to find it snowing.
More on the snow day soon!
I've got lots of pics to share of the fun we had out there.....

My Instagram Life - 2.15.13

The quick snapshots I take each week.
The ones where I either didn't have my camera with me, didn't have time to go get my camera or possibly was just too lazy to go get my camera.
Well, that or my plain old love for Instagram.
It could totally be that, too.....
{If you are interested you can follow me at mindymc5 on Instagram.}

I saw the sweetest little purple crocuses popping up near my house this week.
Love them.
They are a promise of the warmth to come....

I have been searching for the perfect red lipstick.
It is maddening.
It is very hard to find the right shade of red.
I thought I had found it.....
but now, I'm not sure.
It was RED red in the tube.
On my lips it almost seems bright pink.
Not what I was looking for.......

I attended Miss Lillie's Heroes Fair this week.
She was Helen Keller.
She did a fantastic job sharing the facts she learned.

Yesterday, after the kid all arrived home with their bounty of candy,
I found them in Brady's room doing this.
It's the Great Candy Swap of 2013.

A new breakfast try this week.
An avocado with an egg baked inside it.
Pretty good!!
And very healthy.
I did have to cook mine longer than the recipe says though....

One of the things I love to do with friends is sit and have a cup of coffee or tea with them.
I made myself a cup of vanilla almond tea yesterday and felt very sad that my best friend wasn't there to have a cup with me.....

My gorgeous Valentine's flowers!!
I am a sappy girl who loves getting flowers!!

I made myself this delicious breakfast this morning.
A smoked salmon and herbed goat cheese omelet.
Made with fresh from the coop eggs of a sweet church member.
Seriously, it was delish!
I am desperately trying to be better at eating breakfast.
An actual healthy breakfast, that is.
Not so many granola bars.....

You can join in the fun , too by heading over to Life Rearranged!!

An Ash Wednesday Psalm

"Today we enter the season of Lent, the 40-day journey through the wilderness of our struggling lives to the triumph of the Resurrection"

Our Ash Wednesday Service was very moving tonight.
As we were reminded that we have all "stuff" we have to deal with and nail to the cross.
Things we need to lay on the alter.
I certainly had my share of things to confess.

So, tonight --
This is my prayer....

Have mercy on me, O God,
    according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
    blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.
For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.
Against you, you only, have I sinned
    and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
    and justified when you judge.
Surely I was sinful at birth,
sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb;
you taught me wisdom in that secret place.
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins
and blot out all my iniquity.
10
Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11
Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12
Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
13
Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
so that sinners will turn back to you.
14
Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
you who are God my Savior,
and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
15
Open my lips, Lord,
and my mouth will declare your praise.
16
You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;
you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
17
My sacrifice, O God, is[b] a broken spirit;
    a broken and contrite heart
    you, God, will not despise.

Two on Tuesday

Today has  been a super busy  day.
I did get in some Jillian Michael's Yoga Melt down before dashing off to get some groceries.

Then I ran back home, picked up Brady and headed to Lillie's Heroes Fair at school.

The kids were all different American Heroes.
My girl was Helen Keller.
She was in costume.....
but she forgot to take off her headband.

Lillie did an excellent job sharing her presentation on Helen Keller and the pictures she gathered for her poster board.
All of the kids did a fantastic job!!

Then I came home for the last day of the Just One Conference.
It's an online conference for Pastor's Wives/ Women In Ministry.
It has been for the last three weeks (one day a week) and I've been hugely blessed and challenged by what they've been sharing with us.

The the girls arrived home and it was time for homework and making supper.

After supper, it was time to dash off to take Maggie and Lillie to gymnastics.

Once we made it back home, Ken and I did a special devotion with the girls.
We shared with them about Shrove Tuesday {which is today!} and what it means to us as Christians.
And we talked a little bit about what to expect tomorrow night at our Ash Wednesday Service and why we do what we do.
Then we celebrated with some King Cake!

Brady was already in bed, but the girls loved it.

It's been a super long and hard day
but it ended on a sweet note.
Both physically and spiritually.

Have Shrove Tuesday everybody!

A {Short} Weekend Away

On Friday, two of my favorite friends and I headed for Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Because they live in a different town than me, I met them in Spartanburg, so we could ride the rest of the way down together.
By the time we met on Friday, we were famished so it was time to stop for supper.
We ended up choosing to eat at O'Charley's because Jenny had never been there and it was close by and easy access back to the interstate.

We made it to our condo in Hilton Head at about 10:30 PM.
Once we got all of our stuff inside, we quickly got to bed because we knew that Saturday was going to be an early morning.

We all rolled out of bed at about 6:15AM.
My friend, Kandi, is an awesome runner and she was running the Hilton Head Half Marathon that morning.
Here she is all ready to go!

All smiles as she takes off!

While she was running, Jenny and I went to Panera Bread.
Me for coffee, of course.
 Jenny had never been to Panera either {I think we've found a reason to travel more often!!}
But, she soon discovered the joys of the pastries and had a wonderfully sweet and chocolaty breakfast.

After the coffee and pastries, we went back to the condo for a few minutes and then headed back to the park.
We went directly to the finish line and shortly there after, Kandi came across the finish line.
Still smiling!!

Jenny with the medal......

Then it was time to head back to the condo for lunch.
After lunch and getting cleaned up, we headed to the beach.
It was low tide and there were lots of things to check out on the beach.

We saw several very large  jelly fish.

Lots of horseshoe crab shells....
do they grow out of the shells and then grow new ones?

A starfish....

And whatever this is.....
anyone know?
It looked very like a snake skin but very bunched up.....

On the way back, we stopped and took a lot of pictures.
I won't bore you with all of them. but here is one that we got some snowbirds to take of us together.

After our fun on the beach, we went back to the condo.
We enjoyed the hot tub for a bit and then we went into the sauna.
Y'all.  I have only been in a couple of sauna's in my life time but the ones I have been in were steamy and very warm.
This one was dry -- very dry and as hot as you know where.....
or at least as hot as I imagine it to be.
The best thing about the sauna was that an older couple came in there who had been married for 51 years.
The gentleman told us that and told us how lucky he was to have his wife.
It was the sweetest.
I learned all of that in the two minutes I was inside of the box o' suffocating heat.

Soon, it was time for supper and we went to The Crazy Crab.
We read that it was an island tradition and knew we had to go!
I had the lobster and it was delish.
But my favorite thing there were the fresh hot hushpuppies.
And the view of the marsh.
Which I didn't take a picture of because I was too busy eating the hushpuppies!!

After supper it was back to the condo.
We spent the evening talking and sharing and laughing and praying.
And, if I'm honest, crying, too.
It was a sweet evening.

On Sunday morning, we got up and got all packed up to head home.
First stop- Starbucks.
Then we were going to stop at the outlets at the Nike store to check out running gear
and at White House Black Market Outlet because hello?
It's the best store ever and by adding Outlet to the sign, it makes us believe we are getting a great deal.
But, much to our chagrin, the outlets were not open yet.
So, it was off to our next stop -- Target.
We discovered a Dick's Sporting Goods next door so we checked out the running gear there.

We headed home after that.
We stopped for lunch at the "Willy Wonka of Burgers" as one of the signs in the store said.
So, so good!!

All too quickly after that, we were back to my car and hugging goodbye.
It was a wonderful, though seemingly too short, weekend.
