If We've Ever Needed You!

 Do you like Casting Crowns?
I, for one, happen to love them!
Their songs have the best lyrics ever!
I can't think of any of their songs that I just don't like and from the  very first album, many of their songs have spoken to me.
This song is speaking to me lately.

It seems to me that, in a lot of ways, in this country -
we are smack in the middle of this song.

"You called us out, we've turned away.
We turned away.
Ship-wrecked faith, idol's rise.
We do what is right in our own eyes.
Our children now will pay the price.
We need your light,
Lord, shine Your Light."

These lyrics have been haunting me as of late.
How many times have I turned away when He has called me? I know many times when my faith has been ship wrecked and I've done what is right in my own eyes.
All of that is bad enough but the next line is what really haunts me.
Nothing haunts me more than the legacy I'm leaving my children.
I really cringe at a lot of is being subtly taught to my children in the world.  I long to be the wife and mother that God is calling me to be.  To teach my children by my actions the Way that God is calling me to follow not only as their mother but in every other area of life.
To be authentically a follower.
It's really hard to compete with the world  a lot of times, though.
TO compete with "what everybody else gets to do".
TO know if I'm doing the best and right thing.....

There are many, many things that make me want to cry out as in this song, "If we've ever needed you, Lord it's now".
I really do believe that the world IS desperate for HIS hand reaching out......

Tonight, I'm praying for that light. For the light to guide me each moment of every day.

On Perservering!

I'm having this sort of day.....

Sometimes, it is so hard to be in Ministry. Sometimes I'm just sick of it. Sometimes, I wish God had something else for me. I wonder if anyone else ever feels that way?

God faithfully led me to me to THIS scripture tonight.

2 Thessalonians 3:1-13

1 As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. 2 And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. 4 We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.
6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching[a] you received from us. 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, 8 nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. 9 We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate. 10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”
11 We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. 12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. 13 And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.

All of this passage is speaking to me tonight.  Especially these verses.....

--May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance....And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good. --

So, I'm heading off to bed with these verses in my head (and on a sticky note to read until I fall asleep).

And, hopefully, tomorrow won't be a humbug sort of day....

The Fruit of The Spirit's Not A Coconut

A while back, a  couple of ladies from church and I visited a Children's Worship at a church about an hour away .  We are beginning a Children's Worship Service at our church and wanted to visit some churches who do it so we can see how it's done in other churches.
Thus far, we've only visited one church {but plan to visit more}.
The service we did visit was amazing and it was a great worship service.
One of the fun songs they sang there was this one....

We've been teaching this fun song to our kids for the past few weeks.
They now know what the fruits of the spirit are.

SO FUN!

365.38

I did a terrible job of taking pictures this week.... Id' blame it on my sickness but that's really not to blame.  but here's what I got.

9.18.11 - Sunday...As usual it was a busy Sunday around here.  The girls went to the Asheville Fair with the kids and LOVED it.  I had bible study and Ken had a meeting so neither of us could attend.  They had SO much fun though. I am so glad that they got to go!

9.19.11 - Monday...just a typical Monday. I volunteered in Lillie and Allie's classrooms at school. Then came home and did some laundry, went and sat in the carline, picked up the girls, homework, dance, supper and bed. Typical Monday....

9.20.11 - Tuesday... On Tuesday these two cuties came to stay with us a few hours.  It was so much fun watching little boys play in the yard.

9.21.11 - Wednesday.... another typical day.  Volunteered in Maggie's classroom. Lunch with friends, housework for a bit, carline, pick up girls, church for meal and bible study, home, bed

9.22.11 - Thursday.... Two girls got new beds. Here is Miss Maggie checking it out.

9.23.11 -Friday.... Family Night.  Homemade Pizza, Toy Story 3, and Popcorn!

9.24.11 - Saturday....Today has been a typical Saturday.  Soccer, a few chores, playing and leftovers for supper.
While playing, Maggie came upstairs wearing this....
apparently, they attended a concert and got to go backstage.....
She wouldn't tell me who they were seeing....;)

Aside from my being sick, it's been a pretty typical week around here.
What have you been up to?

A Gift

On Thursday morning, this truck pulled up to my house.....

They delivered two beds that looked just like this...
{They even set them up for us}

A close up look at the beautiful headboard....
Hubs and I knew the beds were coming but these girls didn't.
I picked them up from school and sent a text to hubs to be ready.
He hid in their room to catch their reaction at seeing their new beds.
The joy shows on their faces....

These two have been sleeping in the beds that were mine and my sister's when we were kids.  And while they've lasted some 35 years....they were showing their wear.  They were at one time canopy beds but those were long since broken off by some unnamed brother. {smile}....They were rickety....and the slats fell off often....
SO,  to get new beds was a wonderful surprise for them.
Not only was it a surprise but it was a blessing....
because these beds are beautiful beds.
And more than anything hubs and I could afford to give them ourselves.
These beds were a gift.
An incredible gift from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.
An incredible, blessed, GIFT of love!

So, to that special person who offered us this amazing gift,
I say
YOU will never know how thankful and blessed we are and I thank God for you!

Fall Premeire Week

I don't have much time to blog tonight.  I'm too busy watching this amazing show.
Have you seen The Sing-Off yet?
I'll say it again...it's amazing!

So, I got to thinking about the other premeire's I plan to catch this week.
So, here they are...

1. NCIS - the original.
I have been a fan of this show for years.  I can't wait to see what happens next.

2. Criminal Minds.
Again, another show that I love.
At the end of last season, they left it so that the audience isn't sure whose coming back again.  That is because there were contracts to be renewed.  I'm hoping for all of them to be back!

3. The Big Bang Theory.

Serioiusly -- one of the funniest shows ever!

4.  Pan Am
This is a new show that I plan on checking out this show.
I like the nostaligia of it all!

Here's a small glimpse into the last week of our lives......

9.11.11 - Sunday....The weather has been so nice that last Sunday I decided to go ahead and put up my fall wreath.
Here it is over my fireplace.
Isn't it beautiful?!?
My Mom made it for me. =)

9.12.11 - Monday....This past Monday was my first day to volunteer in two of my girls classrooms.  I love doing it and hope to volunteer in all three classrooms each week!
So,  Monday was a pretty busy day This is Mr. Brady watching cartoons before heading out for this busy busy day.

9.13.11 - Tuesday....  This is Brady while waiting in the car line to pick up his sister.  With chocolate all around his mouth.  Just cuteness. =)

9.14.11 -Wednesday... On Wednesday afternoon, some friends came to stay with us for a while. This is one of my favorite pictures from the day.  Miss Lillian is watching out cat in the tree.  Tigerlily ran up the tree because Lillian and Brady spent their afternoon chasing her.
She had had enough. ;)

9.15.11 -Thursday.... It was a cool evening on Thursday and I lit these candles. I adore this Sun and Sand scent. But I'm trying to use it up so I can give myself reason to buy a more fallish scented candle.

9.16.11 - Friday.... On Friday, I had some meetings in the morning and then cleaned house. This was my late night supper.  But a cheese plate is always up my alley.
It was DELISH!

9.17.11 -Saturday....Another soccer day.  This was the best shot I got on Saturday.
Miss Lillie in action....

Pretty ordinary week for us, and you?

Initial Baby Shower

A few weeks ago, I had the honor of helping to host a baby shower for a sweet girl from our church.  The shower was originally scheduled in August but Baby Kayla decided to come early so we had to postpone it for a few weeks.
So, we got to have a shower with the baby there!
I used Kayla's initials as the theme.  I got some onesies monogrammed and hung them across the front of the table for decorations.
We also had yummy cupcakes with "K's" on them.  ADORABLE! A fun time was had by all!
Check out the rest of the pictures.

It was a great shower.  I had the best time decorating, visiting and holding this little cutie!

Things I Love Wednesday

I thought I would share some things that I am loving this week!!!

I discovered  these this week.  Almond Joy Pieces are divine!
Too bad I bought a whole Trick or TreatBag Full of them.
They are very tempting!!!

I've always found a new drink to love at Starbucks....
Salted Caramel Mocha.....
Divine!  I hope they have these in Heaven someday!

This morning I took my girls to school in flipflops.  Here in the NC Mountains the weather has taken a turn to a more fallish form which means cool mornings. My toes were freezing.
I am so excited that it is almost fall and I just ordered these awesome cow clogs to keep my toes warm!  YEAY fall!  Now I just gotta get some nice fallish candles from the Yankee Candle Store to go with them!

I am absolutely loving  the study that I'm leading right now.  One lady came up to me this evening and told me that she was mad at me for making her think! (She was kidding of course) I think that is a good thing -- It means it's touching her heart and it is definitely touching mine!

Lastly, this song has been speaking to me in a big way lately.

"Shipwrecked Faith, Idols Rise...
Our children now will pay the price...."
That is a serious thought....makes me want to cry out
"IF we ever needed you, Lord it's now!"

What are you loving this week?

The 80's Rocked!!!! {And the Party did, too!}

There were 5 of these Mrs. PacMan  banners around the room.
So, back in June, I went with 3 other girls to see NKOTBSB. We had a wonderful time reliving our teenage years.
So much fun in fact that, on the way home, my friend Kandi and I were talking about her birthday. She decided that we had had sooooo much fun at the NKOTBSB concert that an 80's party would be the best birthday party EVERRRR!
And it TOTALLY WAS!!!!
I got to help plan and decorate for this party and I had SUCH an incredible time.

One side of the centerpiece.
We held the party in the gym at our church.
The centerpieces were made of all things 80's.  Rollerskates, 80's vhs movies, cassette tapes, jelly bracelets, pop rocks, sunglasses, neon balloons and....
The other side of the centerpiece....
AQUANET!!!!

And the rest is mostly in pictures with captions because I'm techy illiterate and cannot get this thing to let me type again.
Maybe further down it'll let me -- we shall see.

Full view of centerpieces.

Neon cassette tapes were part of the centerpieces.

The TOTALLY Kandi table. It was filled with all the things that Kandi loved in the 80's. =)
Cool Ranch Dorito's, "3 cent gum" and Smarties, Lucky Charms and Sundrop.  There were of course, pictures of Kandi at the Prom and various other highschool pictures and her scrapbook.

We even had a working Atari set up...which with today's technology was kinda tough....but it was awesome. Can you tell that he's playing Space Invaders!?!?!
We had a photo station set up so we could get pictures of eveyone in their 80's wear.  We put it together with two splatter painted sheets and cut outs of  I heart 80's .
The birthday girl with her cake.  It had neon dots and sqiggles on it.  And we had made some 80's signs to put in it.  Of course, NKOTB is on there!

One of the sweet ladies who was invited was sick and unable to attend.  She had a beautiful {and very 80's} corsage for Kandi.  IT was awesome!
We played a couple of games.  One was an 80's Trivia Game and the winner got.....any guesses?!?! You got it, a Rubix Cube.   Then we played The NewlyWed Game. Except that we have folks who'd been married less than 10 years { we didn't have any real newlyweds available to play}, the birthday girl and her hubby have been married almost 20 years.  Then we had a couple that had been married 30 years and 40 years.  It was great fun!!!!

The rest of these are just scenes from the party.  Check out the great 80's outfits!
This is Courtney dancing the night away....

And Val....singing us a tune....channeling her inner Cyndi Lauper

Courtney can do The Worm!

Val, Jennifer and Kandi strike a pose!

This was my favorite picture from the whole night.  I just love the looks on both of their faces.
Great shot, Jen and Sam!

Ken wouldn't me put together his costume.  I really wanted him to channel Tom Cruise and do the whole Top Gun jumpsuit but he didn't want to. Mostly because that costume costs like $80...So, he put this together and showed up as the handsomest preppy in the room.
I'd totally forgotten about wearing two polo's so you had the double collars going on.  And that sweater? Awesomeness.

These three weren't even born in the 80's.....but they conquered the look pretty well! =)

And these two?
Val and John's costumes were just too cool for school!

I think the party was a huge success.  Everyone seemed to have a great time and the birthday girl really enjoyed it.  That makes it a total success!!
It really was, like, the best party EVEEERRR!!!
