Tigerlily

This morning, my friend, Kandi and I went for a walk. We were walking the stairs of the Court House when I heard crying. I sounded like a cat crying, so after we were finished walking the stairs, we went to check it out.
I found this little sweetie in a hedge.
SO, I rescued the adorable kitten and brought it home.
Hubs wasn't super excited about it.
But gradually through the day {and being worn down by the kids excitement} he got on board with having a pet.
The girls named her Tigerlily {with the hope that she really is a girl}.
And with that, I went to buy a litter box, kitty litter, and kitten food.
And now, we are the proud owner of this adorable little kitty....
Tigerlily is going to be an outside cat.
So, I'm asking if {for my kiddo's sake} if you will say a prayer tonight.
That Tigerlily will still be in her box on our backporch in the morning.
Because my kids will be heartbroken if she isn't.
Thanks, y'all!

365.28

It is 11:48 PM and I'm pooped.
SO this will be short and sweet.
Here's what we've been up to this week....
7.10.11 - Sunday......Miss Lillie had her first ever sleepover that was just her and no sisters.
She was so excited! We had to capture the moment.
This is Lillie with her friend, Polly with their bitty babies, Penelope (Lillie's) and Charlie (Polly's).

7.11.11 - Monday....On Monday morning, our friends Polly and Jasper came to play for a while.
We had a picnic lunch.....There are actually 6 kids in this picture. Jasper is hidden by Maggie, but I love this picture. A picnic under this tree is picture perfect!
7.12.11 - Tuesday.... On Tuesday we packed up and drove to Greensboro. We had supper with Granddaddy and Nana LeeAnne, as well as with Ken's grandmother who will be 95 on her birthday...I just love this picture of her with the kids.
7.13.11 - Wednesday....We spent the day with Grandaddy and Nana Lee Anne. Nana Lee Anne is teaching the girls to sew (more on that soon!)
Then we headed off to Family Camp.
This is what I saw when we drove up.
Beautiful place!!!
7.14.11 - Thursday....Camp was so much fun. There will be much more on Family Camp later.
This is one of my favs from Thursday.
7.15.11 - Friday....Friday night was the campfire and closing worship.
7.16.11 - Saturday....Today we packed up and came home. I snapped this shot on the way out of camp.
That's what we've been doing this week.
What have you been up to?

THE Messy Party

A few weeks ago, I was talking to Courtney (our Director of Children's Ministry).
I mentioned seeing a blog about a Messy Party and thought that might be a fun thing to do as we had been looking for an event to do for the children at church in the month of June.
The words Messy Party was all it took for her to jump on board and go with it!
It was her first ever event and I think it went wonderfully
and I think that everyone had a fantastic time!

First up, to get everyone in mood to be messy, we did Shaving Cream Hair-do's.
Allie had a great time doing this and with all the hair she has, she made quite the 'do!
Next up, was the jello dig.
It is a great messy thing to do.....
BUT - two things ---It takes a WHOLE LOT more jello than you think to fill up a baby pool
(thus the reason ours isn't full) AND
jello melts.
After a while our dig was just candy floating in liquid...
BUT these kids still enjoyed themselves.

After the jello dig, we moved on to Edible Finger Paint...
made from Cool Whip and food coloring...

Maggie made her painting and then proceeded to paint herself....
This was another event we had .
The Choc-o-Bob.
We wanted to Bob for Apples but it seemed gross when we really started thinking about it,
so this was our alternative.
Here is Adam going for it!
Toe Painting was up next just to get good and messy....
Here they are getting ready to paint.
Then we had The Powder Room. I didn't get a picture of the sign for some reason.
The kids did enjoy this one.
We also had a Bubbles Station...but I didn't get any pictures of anyone doing that.
Guess they were too busy with the other stuff and such.....
Last up, to get us all clean we broke out the water.
There were water guns, water balloons and a water slide.
This was hit of the day.
My suggestion is that if you do a Messy Party that you keep the water stuff a surprise until the end. I think the water stuff is part of why the choc-o-bob and the bubbles weren't frequented.
Maybe we started to water stuff too soon.

In a about an hour, we head to camp. I don't know if they have wi-fi. Matter of fact, I'm kind of doubting it. SO, I will probably be out for the rest of the week.
Having fun with my family....and unconnected for the most part.
It's a good thing. =)
So, have a great week, y'all!

Time to Stop

This song is really speaking to me lately every time I hear it.
Take a listen and let me know what you think.
For me it's time to stop.
Trying so hard, to stop trying so hard.
Just let you be who you are....Lord, who you are in me....

We are off to camp tomorrow. Hubs is to be the pastor in residence at a family camp this week.
We are looking forward to it but I'm unsure about wi-fi there, so I may not be back until Saturday.
If not, enjoy the video.
Ponder with me won't you?
Don't want to lose my follow-through
Between the Altar and the Door.....

365.26 & 365.27

I am so happy to have a new computer cord. My poor hubs told me I needed to be careful and not break this one.....{I've broken three}, I tried to explain that asking me to be careful about something like this is pretty pointless. I'm just no good at it. And neither are the kids.
But I will try honey.....really, I will.
SO, to catch you up on what's been going on while I was away -- here are two weeks worth of pictures for project 365 {expect for the few times I didn't get a picture}.....
6.26.11, Sunday.... We had a "Messy Party" for the kids at church. My kids had a blast and loved every minute of it. The opening activity was shaving cream hairstyling.
Here is Allie's best style....
6.27.11, Monday....We took the kids to the local city pool for a while Monday afternoon.
They loved it and found some friends there which made it even better.
They were all playing in the kiddie area while the lifeguards were on break.
I got this shot then....
6.28.11, Tuesday....My MIL had a wreck on Tuesday morning. She was rearended in a city about an hour away. Since my FIL was 3 hours away, I drove over and spent the day at the hospital with her getting her back checked out. I didn't think it would be polite to take her picture in the hospital bed while she was under the influence of a heavy narcotic. So I didn't.
6.29.11, Wednesday.... I had a great early lunch with a friend and then cooked all afternoon for our Fifth Wednesday Open Door Meal and Sing at church. Great day....no pictures.
6.30.11, Thursday....We went to a great birthday party for these two cuties. There was lots of kids, lots of swimming, lots of pizza and lots of cake all around.....and lots, and lots of fun!!!
This is my favorite picture I got that evening.
7.1.11, Friday...This was family day. We drove to Asheville and took the kids to see Cars 2. We then ate supper at Papa's and Beer {One of the best Mexican Restaurants EVER}, and stopped at a park to play before heading home.
This is my Lillie and Maggie on the tire swing.
They loved it!

7.2.11, Saturday....This was housecleaning day at my house. It was really lowkey. I took this picture of a window that I just adore in my house....

7.3.11, Sunday.....A regular Sunday. Worship, out to lunch, rest with a nap {Smile}, bible study and home to bed. That's almost always how my Sundays go and it's how I like them.
We went to the local Japanese Restaurant for lunch.
This is Brady using his chopsticks.

7.4.11, Monday...Happy 4th of July!!!
We had a playdate in the morning with some friends who were home visiting from Colorado, then we went to a Community Band Concert, came home and ate a very nostalgic supper {I was missing my Grannies!}, played a bit of Monopoly and then went to see some fireworks.
My family watching the fireworks....
7.5.11, Tuesday....I had a meeting Tuesday morning and then the kids played in the sprinkler.
They had a great time!
7.6.11, Wednesday....I went on a Target Run to Asheville with my friend, Kandi while the girls were at a playdate and hubs had Brady. This is Kandi's hubby who has a fractured foot.
We had him at Sam's to pick up some stuff for a party they were having.
This is Al in the scooter cart at Sam's.
We then went on to Target and did our shopping and ate lunch at a great Vegetarian Restaurant downtown. Cheese plate with a Veggie Cuban, and stopping at the Chocolate shop down the street? Yes, please!!!!
7.7.11, Thursday...On Thursday, the kids and I had to run some errands. We were eating at Subway for lunch when Lillie lost her tooth. =)
7.8.11, Friday.... It was another cleaning day at our house. Then Lillie had a birthday party that evening. It was a swimming party and she loved every minute of it.
This is her with the birthday girl (in the center) and another friend.

7.9.11, Saturday.....Today was a very busy day. We had our Block Party for our Community VBS this morning and it went quite well. After that, we had a training for our VBS Volunteers.
I came home and made some potato salad to take to the Shrimp Boil that we had been invited to.
We had a great time with our friends and met several more nice folks, too.
This was my favorite picture from tonight.
Our friend, Salem, being silly.
It's been a great and busy two weeks.
What have you been up to since I've been away?

Ephesians 4

Well. I did it again. I broke another computer cord. Another one has been ordered and hopefully will be here soon. I can't bring myself to upload the pictures off my camera to this computer. Nope....they need to be on my laptop with the rest of my pictures. Because it'll drive me crazy for them to be somewhere else and not neatly organized with the rest of my pictures.
So, I can't post about our Messy Party until I get my cord. I hope it comes soon!!!!

SO, for today, I thought I would share with you some scripture God is reminding me of often.
A couple of weeks ago in church hubs referenced some verses from Ephesians 4. God has brought me back to that chapter several times since then.

This is a Chapter on what it looks like to be spiritually mature. It's who and what *I* am supposed to be. AND it's who and what *I* want to be!!! This chapter is just full of things to ponder and pray through and put into action in my life. There is just so much meat here. Things that I will be pondering and learning and putting into practice for a long time....

Ephesians 4
1 Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. 2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. 3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. 4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. 5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all.
7 However, he has given each one of us a special gift[a] through the generosity of Christ. 8 That is why the Scriptures say,

“When he ascended to the heights,
he led a crowd of captives
and gave gifts to his people.”[b]

9 Notice that it says “he ascended.” This clearly means that Christ also descended to our lowly world.[c] 10 And the same one who descended is the one who ascended higher than all the heavens, so that he might fill the entire universe with himself.

11 Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. 15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

Living as Children of Light
17 With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused. 18 Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him. 19 They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity.
20 But that isn’t what you learned about Christ. 21 Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, 22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.

25 So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body. 26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.”[d] Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.

28 If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need. 29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.

30 And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own,[e] guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.

31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
