The Life Ready Woman {Giveaway}

When I first started reading The Life Ready Woman, I wasn't so sure I was going to like it. Mainly because I felt like it was something that I'd heard over and over again. But, after the first chapter, I was loving it. You see, this book gives us a look a what God wants in all of our lives. We learn about what biblical womanhood really is and what a biblical family looks like. It tells of Core Callings, Feminine Callings and Personal Callings and what happens when those things are all working together as they should. And in the second half of the book, it helps us take a look at our own selves and take the faith steps needed to "the Life Ready Woman"!

About the book:

Are you a ‘Doing it all’ or ‘Do what matters’ woman?
Whether a stay at home; or working mom, an airplane-hopping executive, an empty-nester caring for multiple generations or a single juggling high demands of career and personal life, today's fast-paced modern world leaves women gasping for balance. We as modern Christian women want to look to the Bible for guidance on how to manage our lives -- but because the world of women looks so different today than it did when the Bible was written, it is hard to find chapter and verse that seems to apply to our situation today.

Thankfully, God has given us exactly that timeless, unchanging guidance for how to find peace, clarity, and God's best for our lives once we know where to look! The Life Ready Woman: Thriving in a Do-It-All World, reveals a profound biblical roadmap for how each of us can find the abundant life we are longing for, rather than the stressful, torn, how-do-I-balance-it-all life we often feel like we are trying to keep up with today. Actually being a LifeReady Woman means that you are clear about your life, bold in your faith, and able to find God’s best for you, and the end result will be that you not only survive but thrive in our do-it-all world.

God has given every wonderfully unique woman different skills and abilities, different desires, and different temperaments -- and every woman around the planet and through the ages is certainly living in different circumstances. But no matter what a woman’s life looks like, the Bible says that God has an individual mission and plan that He’s carefully designed for each of us. And He wants us to find it. Starting January 2011, The Life Ready Woman and the Life Ready Woman Video Series will help every wonderfully unique woman to thrive as she identifies and courageously pursues God's unique design and callings for her. LifeReady Woman puts you on a roadmap to make decisions that will lead to relief, delight, and fulfillment instead of regret.

Some Linky Love for You!

Today, my Loving As A Verb comes in the form of some "Linky Love" for you!! So, here are some links to some things that I am loving right now and maybe you will, too!!

First, yesterday, I did something that I have never in my life done before. I baked homemade {read: NO PRESERVATIVES!} bread. Yes, I did!!!! Here is a picture of my two loaves just before the 2nd rising took place....

They certainly aren't the prettiest loaves ever made, but I want to tell you that this bread. DELISH!!! It is Whole Wheat Honey Oat Bread and I got the recipe from Hallee The Homemaker. There is a link there to her "daily bread" and this recipe is there. I cannot tell you how delicious it was just out of the over with homemade pimento cheese for lunch yesterday. MY goodness, y'all. It's good. AND it's healthy! SO, love on yourself and your family and make this bread!!

Second, I've recently discovered this awesome website called Zoe Clothing Company.
This morning I ordered a shirt from them. I had a very hard time deciding what to get because I also like many, many others including this birdcage one.
They also have great shirts for kids. There were many great ones for girls -- here is one of the ones that I was partial to....

And I think this one would be just perfect for my sweet boy!!!

And last, but not least, I love hats and I was ever so excited yesterday when I saw that Tomkat Studio was doing a giveaway for hats from Petal Chic Boutique. Can I just say that I. LOVE. THESE. HATS!!!! Adorable!!! I think I might like this one, The Lexie, best of all. But I also have an affinity for the Avery.
And like I said, TomKat Studio is doing a giveaway. SO, you can also go enter to win....but I am hoping I win. ;)

I think that one of these hats is just what I need to go with the new shirt I got......except that Dave Ramsey always puts a damper on things like that so I will have to wait. Bummer. =)

Anyways, I hope that you enjoyed the Linky Love I had to share with you today!!!

PS--OOPS! I forgot to tell you this -- Be sure you come back tomorrow!! I have a Book Review on a great book and get to give one away! =) You don't want to miss it!!!!

365.7 {sort of}, Valentine's Day, Our Week AND LOVE as a Verb -day 21

Last week was one crazy busy week and I failed at getting pictures every day. I am ashamed to admit it....HOWEVER, here are the pictures that I did manage to get and some extras.

2.13.11 -Sunday.....crazy busy day. We had church, then lunch, drop 3 of 4 kids off with some wonderful church members, then Allie and I headed to a funeral, and then back to church for bible study. No time in between to take pictures and when I got home at 8:45 PM...I was ready to drop!

2.14.11 - Monday ..... Valentine's Day started for us with Lillie and Brady going to the dr. for check ups. I got this shot as we were stopped at a stoplight on the way.
I think it is so sweet.

Here are the kids Valentine's Day gifts all lined up when they got home from school
and up from naps, as the case may be....

If you remember, Maggie came home sick from school on Monday, so
while she opened her gift {and did like it} she was less than happy due to how she felt.
Poor girl!!

Miss Lillie.....
All three girls got the same gift.
A sweater and a hat for their American Girl Dolls.

Miss Allie reading her card.

Brady got 2 smaller gifts.
A stuffed "Coo-key Monsta" --his fav!
And a Calliou movie -- also his fav!!

2.15.11 - Tuesday... My sick girl.....
strep throat -- or shark throat as she told a lady at church--
is NO fun!

2.16.11 - Wednesday ... no pictures....

2.17.11 - Thursday... Maggie was still home with strep due to the
"No fever for 24 hours" policy but she was feeling much better on by Thursday.
This is how I found she and Brady at one point during the day.

2.17.11 - Friday... Daddy and Brady "sleeping" together.
Also, on Friday, my friend, Kandi and I drove to Greensboro to pick up the
furniture that we bought off of Craigslist for Brady's big boy bedroom.
We made many a stop a long the way -- did some shopping and then we went to a
Jack Russel Rescue Center and Kandi got a sweet new puppy named Lennox.
She is PRECIOUS. I wish I had remembered to take her picture!

2.18.11 - Saturday... We got the big boy bed put together.
He loves his new choo choo bed!

On Saturday, we also had company!
Grammy came to see us for an overnight stay.

As did Uncle Tim!

And Aunt Ginger!!!

We had a great afternoon and evening with them!
This is a picture of all of them with the kiddo's before church yesterday.

Also, I just have to tell y'all what my husband did today! Maggie has been begging her dad to take her bike riding on a Daddy/Daughter Date for months. It's either been too cold or we have had too much going on. Today was perfect weather! SO, he took the afternoon off and surprised Miss Maggie by picking her up from school early with bikes in tow and off the went! They rode bikes for a while and played on the playground. AND, then they went for ice cream.
What a wonderful way to really LOVE on Maggie!!!! {Now, he just has to figure out dates for the other three} =)...

Yesterday and Today

SO, yesterday started with two kids who had to go for Well- Checks at the dr.'s office. Everything went as was expected and I asked that each of them be given a flu shot. And shortly there after, found out that Brady had to have 2 other shots, so he would be getting a total of 3 shots.

By the time the appointments were over, and I took Lillie back to school it was 1PM. I did some house work, among other things, and then the bus arrived to drop off Allie and Maggie.

Maggie walks in the house and says, to me, "Mom, I have a headache, and I don't feel good and I'm tired!". I took her temp and she was indeed running a fever of 101.4. So, I got Maggie settled onto a "palate" (do ya'll do that at your house) in the floor and then did homework with Allie and Lillie. And, Lillie headed to dance class at 4:45. Then I had two meetings after that.

We had plans to go out to supper as a family after our meetings but with a sick kid we brought everyone home. By the time we got home, we had one sick kid + 2 kids who had gotten shots + one generally emotional child and that = 4 very grumpy kids.
I cooked up some eggs and toast and put them in bed. None of them ate much and 3 out of 4 were crying when we put them to bed.

Thank goodness, I went to bed at about 9PM, because Maggie showed up in my room at about 1:45 AM telling me she had been up all night. I felt her head. She was burning up. I took her temp....103.4. YIKES. I gave her some medicine and moved her palate to my bedroom floor.
Where she tossed and turned and didn't sleep much all night.
At about 5:30 AM, Brady woke up crying. I got him up and he was crying because his "weg hoyt" (in case you don't speak toddler -- his leg hurt).
Allie's alarm clock went off at 6 and around 6:30 I realized why Brady was complaining about his leg, and head, and everything else hurting -- he, too, had a fever. 101.5.

SO, we get everyone dressed and Allie and Lillie ready for school and head out.
I dropped the 2 who weren't running fevers off at school and headed to the walk-in clinic at our pediatrician's office (SOOOOO glad that they have this!!!!)

Maggie was diagnosed with strep throat. Luckily, Brady's test was negative. His fever was a result of {hello} 3 shots yesterday.

After I got back from the clinic, Ken came home to stay with Maggie and Brady so I could attend a meeting that I needed to go to. I went to the meeting and then ran errands and arrived home around 2. Got a little more housework done and then fixed supper. During the time I was fixing supper, Ken took Allie and dropped off at dance. We ate supper and started giving baths.

FINALLY, got all 4 kids fed, bathed, homework finished, medicine dispensed, and in bed by 8PM.

It is now 9:23 PM and I am pooped and ready for bed.

Here's hoping to much calmer days for the rest of the week. Hopefully, then I can get back to Loving as a verb!!

Love As A Verb -Day 13 {Sunday Letters}

Dear Allie,

This past Thursday was a snow day. We only had about 1 inch (maybe 2) of snow on the ground but it was enough to make the roads icy school. I decided it would be a great idea for us to use my Cricut to make homemade Valentines with you and your siblings. Everyone thought it was a great idea.....including you. Until about 2 hours in when you said to me, "Mom, I'm just not that crafty". And asked if you could stop and just go buy some Valentines at the store. I tried to convince you to stick it out. I was afraid that you would be upset when your siblings all had homemade cards and you did not. You assured me that you would not care. With that, you divided the cards you'd already made between your sisters and off you went to find something else to do.

I guess I learned something about you this week. You don't consider yourself crafty. And you were pleased as punch with the peace and love, 1950's vibe cards you got at Walmart today.

I also wanted to tell you how much I love it when you have a giving spirit. You all received a Valentines gift from Grammy and Granddaddy on Friday. In each package was a Valentines book along with a pair of Justice sweatpants {for you} and pj's { for the other three}. You commented that you already have that book and offered to give it to Lillie's classroom at school. What a wonderful, thoughtful thing to do! I'm very proud of you for that!

Lastly, you had a well-child check up this week. At 9 years and 3 months old, you are 49 1/2 inches tall and weigh 51.2 lbs. And, you only yelped once when you got the flu shot. =)

I love you!

Dear Maggie,

On Monday, I took you and Allie to the doctor for a well- check and a flu shot. At 7 1/2 years old, you are 45 1/2 inches tall and weigh 45.2 lbs. You were insistent on going first when they came to prick your finger to check your hemoglobin. So, when it came time for the flu shot and Allie wanted to go first, I said that was only fair and let her go first. Because you didn't get to go first, you refused to move to get in the spot and lay down to get a shot in your leg. I had to literally pick you up, undress you and force you to lay on the table. Where you screamed you head off while the nurse gave you the flu shot. Honey, I don't like shots at all, but what in the world?!!?

I probably need to apologize for laughing through the whole thing. I didn't mean to laugh. The whole thing just struck me as funny for some reason. So, I'm sorry for that.

I love you!

Dear Lillie,

You are one of stubbornest people I have ever met. It's quite possible you got that from me. When you don't want to do something, you hunker down and it is next to impossible to get you to change your mind. This doesn't bode well for you in regards to obedience to Daddy and I. We are working on learning about respect and obedience with you.

You are also one of the sweetest girls EVER!!!! Last Sunday, you went to a birthday party of a classmate. You girls were given a tiara and a wand at the party. At the end of the party, a little girl couldn't find her tiara. I was so proud of you for giving her the one off of your head.

I also want to tell you how much I love it when you tell me you love me in sign language every night! I also love it when you scratch my back.

I love you!

Dear Brady,

ALL of a sudden you aren't a baby anymore!! Your face is changing and looking much more 'boyish' and a lot less 'babyish'. AND last Sunday, I got you dressed in a longall that you had worn on Christmas Eve that had to be rolled up 2 inches (at least). This time --- it not only couldn't be rolled up, it was TOO SHORT!! {I'm sorry you had to wear it anyway, we were running late.} I just can't believe you are getting so big and are not much of a baby anymore.

Please stop growing.

I love you!

Dear Ken,

I loved the beautiful roses you sent me on Friday. They are gorgeous and smell divine. Thank you. I love surprises. I also loved date night on Friday. Life has been so crazy busy for us, that for a while now, if we were lucky enough to have a night without anywhere to be, we just stayed home. I'm so glad that this week, we went on a date. Let's do more of that. I cherish that time with you.

I also want to tell you how proud I am of you. I'm proud of the way that you lead this church God has brought us to. I'm proud of the way you relate to your children. I'm proud of you when you preach God's word every weekend! I'm proud of the man that you are and who you are still becoming in God!

I love you!!!! {and did I say, I'm proud of you?!!!?}
