Today is Shrove Tuesday. Do you know what that is?
It is the same thing as Fat Tuesday which in French is Mardi Gras.
Did you know that?
Maybe you did. Maybe you didn't.
When the mass population thinks of Mardi Gras, they tend to think of the craziness that occurs in New Orleans and Brazil on this night. But, that isn't what this day is really all about.
This article really explains what Shrove Tuesday is and why it is important in the Christian Tradition.
Today we celebrated Shrove Tuesday by going to eat lunch with our dear friends.
Our friend, Al, is from Louisiana and needed some home -cooking!
He also thought that a cajun restaurant might have some stuff going on for Mardi Gras.
He was right.
And since spicy Cajun food is right up my alley, we were there to join in the fun!
They passed out beads for all!
We all ate our cajun fare heartily.
I myself got the sampler plate because there were too many wonderful things to choose from.
I had jambalaya, gumbo, and red beans and rice. YUM!!
And they brought out King Cake for dessert.
Brady really enjoyed that!
This is Miss O dancing her way out the door.
Our friends, Al, Kandi and Olivia with Brady
(who wouldn't get out of the picture)
They were all sporting their Mardi Gras best.
I on the other hand, didn't think to wear purple today.
Maybe tomorrow for the Shrove Tuesday -- Pancake Supper at church.
Al and Kandi had another friend come eat lunch with us.
Brady befriended him and gave him a big hug and kiss when he left.
