Sweet Things

I have been trying to write this post since Thursday. TO say we've been busy is an understatement. Sometimes I wish life would slow down a little......

Anyway a few sweet things I wanted to share with you all......Thursday (April 29) was K and my 10th anniversary. It's hard to believe it's been 10 years already. Thanks to another sweet thing - my friend Kandi who came and stayed with our 4 kids, we got to go out to a very nice and quiet supper at a local cafe. And the food was delicious!!!! I was going to write out a whole post on our anniversary but seeing as how I didn't get that done, I will just say this. God has given me a love for this man that I can't even explain. Even when I am so mad at him that I can't see straight, I still love him. Marriage is meant to make us Holy..... more like God. And God knew what He was doing by putting K and I together. We are complete opposites. The things I need to learn are K's strengths and my strengths are the things he needs. That's a sweet thing, too! Another sweet thing ---- SWAGBUCKS REWARDS. I don't know if you do swagbucks or not, but let me tell you. Getting points for merely searching the web is awesome. It isn't really fast but it does pay off in the long run. Check out what came in the mail this week. I cannot wait to and use this card at Starbucks on Monday. This card will get me 2 caramel macchiato's (maybe 3 depending on the size I get). I cannot wait. You should go and check out swagbucks if you don't already do it. I love getting things for free. Its a sweet thing!

And one last super sweet thing. When we lived in Belmont, my A had a sweet friend, Seline. They went to preschool and church together and they loved each other! We moved away from there almost 4 years ago now. But they both still miss each other. A got this sweet postcard in the mail last week. It really brought tears to my eyes! In case you can't read the pink words in the picture -- here is what it says "Dear A, I really miss you. Maybe we should meet in the summer! I want you to move back. It's really lonely here with out you! BFF! I hope we meet again! Love, Seline, BFF" Now tell me that didn't make you tear up too!!!!!

I have a lot more to share with you this week about our incredibly busy weekend. But since it is Sunday Morning and I've got to go get ready, I have go stop now.
Be sure you go to church and worship the Lord this morning because that is the sweetest thing of all!

Weekend Recap- Greening Up The Mountains

This past weekend was great fun and non stop! Grammy and Granddaddy came to visit and they arrived Friday afternoon. We took Grammy out to supper for Mother's Day and then came back home to prepare for Saturdays activities which I will get to in a minute. Once we got home, Grammy decided to make some Rice Krispie Treats with the kids......

Here is B. He drug a chair in from his sister's room
so he could stand and watch, too!.
(Goodness, look how dirty his mouth is)
M did not help make Rice Krispie Treats....
she read to Granddaddy instead!

A got to stir it all together and pour it into the pan

And L got to pat them all out!!!!

And what makes Rice Krispie Treats even better?
Well, sprinkles of course!!!

Saturday was Greening Up the Mountains which is a festival in our little town. A and M were to dance along with some other groups from our dance studio. I took hundreds of pictures but here are a few............
I just loved this one from one of the older ballet classes

This is our friend R. She is an awesome dancer!

A and M's Musical Theatre Class is dancing this year to......
wait for it......"Greased Lightening"!!!
Grease is one of my alltime fav's =)
Here they are running in.....

"Go Greased Lightening, your burning up the quarter mile.
Greased Lightening, Go Greased Lightening"

After the dancing, we were all ready to go get some lunch......
K and B as we were figuring out lunch.

Our UMW was selling hotdogs so most of the family got that.
I on the other hand had to have this......

I had never heard of "Fry Bread" before we moved to this little town
but let me tell you that it is YUMMY. For lunch it is served with chili and
taco fixings. YUM
It can also be served as dessert, though, with powdered sugar or fruit topping.
After we had all eaten our fill, we walked around the festival for a while.
This is a picture of our towns 'old' courthouse--
as well as the future library. I can't wait til
this new library opens, it is going to be awesome!!!
There were these men dressed as "tooth fairies" and M had her picture made with them.
They were there promoting a local free dental clinic!

A and M with their friends E and R!

L and our friend T!

Our friends M and E!
I was scheduled to work in the UMW Hotdog booth for a couple of hours in the afternoon. About 20 minutes after I arrived, the storms started so the whole festival was shut down. It was still a lot of fun, though!
Sunday was the same as always ---busy, busy, busy! Hubs preached on final judgement (corporate and personal) and it was an excellent sermon.
After church, we came home and had lunch and then prepared for our full evenings back at church. As I said -- busy.
SO - that was our wonderful weekend-- how was yours?

Menu Plan Monday

It's that time of the week again. Time for me to make my Menu Plan and my grocery list for the week. This morning after dropping the girls off at school, I will make my way to an appointment and then I will go grocery shopping for the week. I heart the Ingle's in the town I'm going shopping in today. It is an awesome store. It's awesome for lots of reasons. I has organic food and lots of choices within that category, it's got an olive bar -- I love the blue cheese stuffed olives! - and a soup of the day which on Monday's is veggie and I usually get that on Mondays for lunch!, and it's a huge store with many products to choose from that the Ingle's in my little town doesn't have. But the BEST thing about the Ingle's in this next town over is that it has a Starbucks in it. Caramel Macchiato here I come!!!!

Anyway, without further ado -- my menu plan for this week!

breakfasts - cereal, eggs and toast, poptarts, bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon or jelly or plain cream cheese, fruit, yogurt

lunches- sandwiches with fruit and chips, hummus with pita chips or veggies for dipping, organic mac and cheese, leftovers

suppers -

Monday -- eating out. =)

Tuesday - BBQ sandwiches, baked beans, deviled eggs, potato salad

Wednesday - Gathering Meal at church

Thursday -- date night --- something simple (do they make organic chicken nuggets?) for kids

Friday - Grilled Salmon, grilled zucchini/squash, green beans, fruit salad

Saturday - Spaghetti

Sunday - out for lunch/ sandwiches for supper

SO - there it is for this week. Now I'm headed off to run all my errands today. Hope you all have a great Monday. Tomorrow I will be return to tell you all about the festival in our small town this week. For more Menu Plans go on over and visit orgjunkie.com

Holy Not Happy

I wrote this originally as an email to my One In A Million bible study girls. In this weeks study, we are talking about putting God's purpose for our lives at the forefront instead of our own. This post is in response to that lesson! I know I've talked about these things before, but it is a lesson that bears repeating for all of us I think!

It's so easy isn't it? Just to want our lives to be happy and free from difficult circumstances altogether? But you know what? If our lives were that easy, I'd dare say that we'd not stop very often to really have a relationship with God. As sinful people, when things are going 'good' for us, we tend to forget all about God don't we?
But see. God isn't looking for our lives to be 'good' -- HE is looking for us to grow and become Holy like Jesus! HE is looking for us to long for HIM and have a real and intimate relationship with HIM. And that takes work! It takes us being willing to work through the difficulties in our lives and not just complain about them. He wants us to come to HIM and form a real relationship.
He also wants us to take the things we learn from HIM and apply it to our lives. In doing so, we become more like Jesus. More HOLY.
See, God isn't looking to make us happy. HE is looking to make us HOLY. More like HIM - more like HIS son. That is His purpose for our lives - holiness! Happiness is a wonderful thing but it depends on what is HAPPENING in our lives at the moment. It is hard to be happy when we are asking our "why" questions, isn't it?
But take heart! Because by spending the time with God that He deserves, by growing closer to HIM, by becoming more Holy - I think that we will have joy because the fruits of the Spirit working within us will show in our lives! And happiness, while different than joy, is a gift from the Lord - so be thankful for your happiness when you have it!

Being happy should never be our goal in life......being HOLY.....being more like our creator -- that should be our goal. The scripture reference she gave today is perfect! Read it again in the Message version:
Psalm 27:4 (The Message)

4 I'm asking God for one thing,
only one thing:
To live with him in his house
my whole life long.
I'll contemplate his beauty;
I'll study at his feet.

That is my prayer for you and for me this day! Let this be our only prayer -- because if this becomes our goal in life then we will truly be more Holy. We won't be able to help it. HIS holiness will rub off on us!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Grammy and Granddaddy are headed here for a visit this weekend and there is also a festival of sorts in our little town this weekend. A and M will be doing their musical theatre number tomorrow morning. SO, it looks like it is going to be a busy but fun weekend for us. Let's all pray that the rain holds off at least until late tomorrow afternoon!

Things I Love Thursdays

Today I discovered through my new friend, Jessie, at The Vanderbilt Wife that Jill, over at Diaper Diaries hosts Things I Love Thursdays. I thought it would be a great idea for me to participate in this today as what I wanted to tell you all about fits perfectly!!!

See, I wanted to tell you all about a new thing that I LOVE and it is Thursday. See? Fits perfectly!!!

SO - what is it that I am loving? It is the new bible study that I am doing at church. Last fall I went to the Deeper Still Conference where some pretty great women were speaking. Maybe you've heard of them? Beth Moore, Kay Arther and Priscilla Shirer? I thought you might know them! Anyway, all three of them are WONDERFUL speakers. Kay Arthur laid it all out for us all and Beth is always awesome! This was my first time ever to hear Priscilla speak. I thought she was great and since that time have been wanting to do one of her studies!

I needed a break from it all after the fall study but I knew when God was ready for me to begin another study again, He would lead me to a study. And when I began looking for a study, One In A Million jumped off the shelf at me. But then my friend showed me another great study and so we looked at both of them. We read the descriptions on the back and flipped through the pages. After that I knew that God was leading me to lead Priscilla Shirer's One In A Million. It was exactly what our church needed and it was the perfect time.

We began last Sunday and I am LOVING this study. Priscilla tells it like it is and I, for one, am in need of a good toe stomping right about now. I, along with about 25 other women in my church, am working on becoming One In A Million!!!

And that leaves me wondering .......Are you doing a bible study right now that you are loving?

Now, I must go. I have to go pack for my impromptu trip to Raleigh tomorrow. Ya'll say a prayer for my sweet hubby who is willing to let me go away for an overnight trip even though two of our kids -- the littlest two--- have strep throat. So pray for the little ones that they will feel better. We began the antibiotics tonight but I fear we need a couple more doses before it really starts to help. SO pray for them and for my awesome husband who is Super Dad!!!!

I will be back to tell you all about my trip! I'm very excited! Don't forget to go on over and see what everyone else loves over at The Diaper Diaries!

At the Bus Stop

Last year, I would drive A and M to school in the mornings. In the afternoons, I would put L and B in the car around 2 and go sit in the car line to pick the other two up from school. School lets out at about 2:45 so we would sit there for that 45 minutes. Well. For me, it worked out fabulously. I'd turn on a move for L to watch and B would take his afternoon nap in the car line. I then would do my bible study at that time.

When it came time for school to start this year, I had planned on doing exactly the same thing but I did have one struggle. B was now 1 and wanting to drop (at least some of the time) his morning nap which meant a longer afternoon nap. A and M begged to ride the bus home in the afternoons. I REALLY didn't want them to ride the bus......too many big kids and too much free time with no one supervising conversations on the bus for me. But, I finally relented and let them ride the bus.

The bus doesn't stop at our house, so we have to pick the girls up at the bus stop -- which is in front of the church. On rainy or really cold days, we drive down to get them but on nice days we walk.
B loves to go down and watch for the bus. Here is picture walk through a trip to the bus stop.

L says this cloud looks like a 2.
And it did. Until it moved.
But if you use your imagination, you can still see it. Sort of.

Sitting at the bus stop.
We always start off sitting....

Behind that passy, he is saying "Car!"

L thought she would do a little tumbling.
I told her that it wouldn't be a good idea because the concrete would hurt.
"No, it won't!" she said.....
She got this far and changed her mind.

B threw some mulch....

We talked to the little girl across the street.

B wants to go down the big stairs.

I say, "No. You have to stay up here."

I sit him down on the step. Being 19 months, he decides

to pitch a fit and slides off the step. Thus, scratching his back.

L picks me a flower (can you see it behind my ear?).

And takes a picture of it.

B tries sitting on the edge since I won't let him go down the steps.

OHHH! The bus finally comes.
B is so excited but a little scared so he
crawls in my lap.

A gets off the bus!

M gets off the bus!

And then we start the long walk back home.
But it is a super sweet time with the little two as we
wait for the bigger girls!
