Christmas 2009 -- Part Trois

My sister and her hubby stopped by for an overnight stay on the way to see his Mom. We were excited to have them for a day and night! They brought gifts for the kids who were again very excited. This will be short and sweet today.

Uncle T helping B get his new
firetruck out!

As this was apparently the Christmas of all things
American Girl -- they got the girls the pets they asked for
for their American Girls.
A got a cat named Ginger.

L got a dog named Honey.

M got a dog named Sugar.
It's a little Yorkie.

The kids love to hang out with Uncle T.
This is what happens the whole time.

We had a great time with them. We have a very busy day today. B is running a fever so we are off to the dr. since it's been off and on for a couple of days. Hubs and I are attending the funeral of a girl from our church this afternoon - please continue to pray for this family and our church family. Then we are headed to GA to visit my family for a couple of days to celebrate the last of Christmas over the New Year.

Ya'll have a very Happy New Year! I probably won't be back til next week -- as we won't return until Saturday sometime. Be on the lookout though and pass the word on --- I have the honor of doing a giveaway next week so if you know someone with a baby girl -- up to about 24 months) tell them to be watching cause it's for them!!! OR you might want to win a gift! It is going to be awesome!

Christmas 2009 - Part Deux

I just took down all of our Christmas ornaments and I'm sitting here looking at an empty, sad looking tree! So, showing you this next set of pictures makes me happy. I'm always a little sad when Christmas is over......
Anyhoo! The other set of in-laws came to our house the day after Christmas. So, we had another round of present opening -- which the kids just loved.

This is hubs grandmother.
I love that my kids get to spend time with her!

Granddaddy and Nana L brought Mr. B a train.
He loves it!
Mrs. M, Nana L's mom, also sent him a
remote control train! SO sweet!

Mrs. M got the girls the cutest little cabbage patch dolls
with animal pj's on. They love them, too
Nana and Granddaddy got the girls scooters
They were a total surprise!

It took a little while for everyone to get them put together.

Then we went outside to try them out.
It was incredibly cold out there.
But great fun!

Here is Nana L and B watching the girls
ride their new scooters.

I am just including this one
because I love the way it turned out
I'm loving my new camera!
I mentioned above that Mrs. M bought B
a remote control train. I know you are all
probably thinking he is too young for that
but it only has two buttons and he
LOVES it. He has played with it
more than any other thing he got for Christmas so far!

It was a great day. OH - and I got another wonderful gift myself -- I got a new coffee maker. One that grinds coffee beans and makes the "perfect" cup of coffee! IT IS AWESOME!!!!!!
This set of inlaws stayed for two days and went to church with us on Sunday.
Then my sister came after church and we did a few more gifts for the kids.
I will share a few of those pictures with you tomorrow in part 3 of Christmas.....It doesn't look like I am going to get away with fewer posts than last year.
Hope you all have a fabulous day today.

Christmas 2009 **Edited for Hubby's Sake**

Last year it took me 3, yes 3, posts to show ya'll all of our family Christmas. I'm wondering if I can do it in less this year -- hoping it isn't more.
But we shall see I guess. So let's get started.
We do allow our children to open one gift on Christmas Eve. It is always Christmas pj's. They've yet to even let on that they know that every year they get new pajama's. They are just happy to get them. This year my Mother in law was here on Christmas Eve and so she allowed them to open one of her gifts too. Every year she gives them a new Christmas ornament. I love that she puts TONS of thought into these ornaments each year. The ornament is always something that is part of that child's personality. LOVE that! This year Miss A got a soccer player, Miss M got a gymnast, Miss L got a Barbie Ballerina, and Mr. B got a monkey. They are perfect. The girls immediately put their ornaments on the tree. The pictures I took on Christmas Eve didn't turn out that well so I don't have pictures of all that to share with you.
After all of our Christmas Eve services, when hubby got home around 11PM OOPS! Hubs read this and pointed out that I was wrong. His last service started at 11PM -- so he didn't get home til after 12 and then, we got started on Santa.
Here is what the tree looked like when I was about to go to bed. Hubs also wants ya'll to know that he didn't go to bed until about 3 AM....I think I went to bed around 2....maybe.
I'm sorry for the large man on the tv. Hubs also says 10 points to anyone who can name the man on the tv.....apparently, he's a United Methodist Bishop. Anyone? Anyone?
Should've turned that off.
OR have it in a beautiful armoire!
That is my day!

Headed out to see what Santa brought!
I love the look on their faces!!!

Checking it all out!

B with his new Zebra riding toy.
I think he loves it!
He also got an adorable Stephen Joseph Backpack with
a dog on it that is monogrammed.
And he got his first set of legos.
They are for ages 1 -5 so they are perfect
for him!

Miss A got a DS Lite for Christmas --
in blue just like she asked for!
She also got an "Outdoor Play Outfit" for Molly (her American Doll
and Apples to Apples Jr. game.

Miss L got a Bitty Baby - whose now been named
Penelope Heart C.....
She also got a nightgown for Elizabeth - her American Doll
and Jenga!

Miss M got a Bitty Baby, too
She also got Josaphina's Accessories --her American Doll
And she got "a game of Twister"
as she says it.

What did I get for Christmas? Well - my hubby -- he's the BEST!!! He got me some books that I've been longing to have AND a Nikon D5000!!!!! You should be able to tell a difference in the quality of the pictures in the rest of this post because they were all taken with my awesome new camera!!!! My in-laws were arrived at our house around 8AM and we soon after opened the gifts they had brought for the kids.

This is a pic. of Daddy and his boy
I just love this picture!!!!

Nana and Grandpap (as my inlaws are known to my kids) got B a little car to play with and some clothes. They got all the girls matching pj's for them and their American Dolls. The girls LOVE them. Here are some pics of them opening their gifts.

The girls and the dolls spent the rest of the day in their matching pj's.

It was a wonderful Christmas Day. My in laws left at around 3 pm and our little family of 6 spent the rest of the day quietly relaxing and enjoying one another. And watching wonderful Christmas movies together. At one point early in the evening I told my husband that I was just so happy right then that I could bust. It really was a wonderful day.

And one more pic. -- just cause I like it.
Hubs and Miss A.

I will be back tomorrow because we had more grandparents and family come the next two days and I've much more to share with you!

Until then, ya'll have a wonderful Tuesday. I took part of my Christmas Decorations down last night and washed a couple loads of clothes but I still have a tree to "undecorate" and at least 4 or 5 more loads of clothes to wash -- not to mention that I've got a house that just needs to be cleaned. SO - that is what I will be working on today. Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!

Prayers Please!

Friends, I'm writing today with a very sad heart to ask you to pray. My church family lost a sweet 14 year old girl to cancer yesterday. Please pray for our church family and especially K's family in the days to come. Also, our youth kids who were so close to Miss K.

The days to come are going to be very hard to everyone. There is much hurt here.
I ask that you would pray for my husband and I during this, too that we may be God's hands in whatever way He chooses to use us during this time.

Thank you all for your prayers.
I will get back as soon as I can to tell you about our Christmas.

The Blooper Reel

Yesterday I sent you Christmas greetings with the picture I put in our Christmas Cards. The Christmas cards that have yet to be mailed and now will just have to be late....oh well.

So, today I thought I'd show you the blooper reel...... These are just a few of the hundreds, yes HUNDREDS of pictures I took to finally get one that worked.

The first night, we tried in our pj's.
B tries to steal someone else's letter
And A ducked out of the picture altogether.

After about 30 or so pictures that night,
it was bedtime. I decided to give up and try again the next day
I took so so many pictures. Here's a few that
didn't make the cut.....

B was afraid of the letters.
Either that or he just didn't want to hold one.

Next, we thought that maybe he'd wear one.
No such luck!

And then he crawled away all together.

if you look closely, you can see his feet in the far right.

Not to mention the child with her finger in

her nose. ahem.

We put him back and he screamed some more.

Next we tried this. As they were laying down
M hit L in the face
Now we have two crying kids.

So, we thought we'd go outside for a few
shots in the snow
Not a great idea
We didn't stay out there long.

We did get a few goods ones including the one that I put on my Christmas Card. Which you can see here.

Ya'll have a fabulous day! We are still "Christmasing" in this house. Have family coming in town today. Be back soon!

12 Pearls of Christmas - Day 12

What Really Matters
by Dawn Meehan

In the hustle and bustle and commercialism of Christmas, take time to remember the real reason why we celebrate - the birth of Christ, our Lord and Saviour. May you all have a blessed Christmas!

I had a VERY long day with the kids doing little but fighting. By the time we left for church, we were all short tempered, snapping at each other, and not at all in the Christmas spirit. Thankfully, once at church, we calmed down. Things were put in perspective for us. We sang Christmas songs and began to smile at one another again. The kids didn't fight once while we were there. Well, they did use their battery operated candles as light sabers for a minute, but we'll forget about that part.

I never sent out cards (sorry to all my family and friends). It just didn't happen this year. I don't think I ever completely finished my shopping, but it's a little late now. Several items I ordered online have been back ordered. I just realized that the kids have eaten all the cookies I've made and there are none to put out for Santa now. I encouraged them to leave him a glass of wine instead. And I failed to read the Christmas story to the kids before they went to bed.

But you know what? None of that matters. It really doesn't. Christmas is here! Christ is born! And He doesn't care if we sent out Christmas cards. He doesn't care if we ate all the cookies we baked. He doesn't even care if we never got around to baking a single cookie at all! He loves us no matter how much we screw up.

Now that's worth celebrating!
